Yet another team that has leap-frogged us without breaking sweat!

Been there before , dropped down the pyramid and got back there again.

The cycle will probably happen all over again before we have a sniff at promotion.

I would have thought that rather than crediting this all to better ownership and control of Mark Ashton, the more obvious reason is they've simply got a generationally very good young manager and are all being carried along for the ride.

Do we really think Mark Ashton, his brother in law, and the other assorted rabble that left us in a mess suddenly turned into masterminds behind Ipswich's rise. Hardly wheeling and dealing either he's sold one player for money in 2 years.

Also post-promotion winning habit is a thing. Early April 2008 GJ had us top of the Championship on 70 points (win remaining games and we'd finish on 82 and promoted). Add in McKenna's quality and the 10 more points is not unrealistic.

Thing is, according to an Ipswich fan on here, the appointment of McKenna was 100 % down to Ashton, given free rein to go out and pick someone; whereas here he feels it necessary to appoint Lee Johnson and Dean 'Deano' Holden, ffs.

Lee Johnson was steve lansdowns appointment. There is the problem ... the lansdowns nothing will ever change with those prats pulling all the strings.

Our record against Luton since they came up from L1 isn't great either, although we did beat them last season.

Yeah, thanks .... that's what I was saying, "it was Steve Lansdown," but without saying "it was Steve Lansdown," trying to find another way to say the same thing.

Ashton under Lansdown appoints LJ and Deano, and they go on to coach at a lower level, downwards, with no success; Ashton free of Lansdown appoints McKenna who's coaching career takes off, spectacularly. Even Steve Lansdown himself cannot fail to recognise the problem here now, and what is holding us back.

Good football administrator ✅✅✅

Recruitment (in / out) 😡💩🤡

Some may question the recruitment out bit, but between him, the board and LJ, they didn’t use the money well, and I very much suspect MA saw transfer profit / P&L directly reflected in his CEO remuneration, ie a conflict of interests / vested interest in trading players, when that might not have been the right thing to do.

I think they put monetary value first before playing value to the team. It was all about player trading, a fav term of SLs, above and beyond their suitability for the squad.
That’s what IT appear to have focused on.

Looks like sky have snubbed the ipswich game to show leeds v saints and brum v Norwich instead !

It's on sky sports main event, no chance they were going to snub it. They usually show 3 games on the last day of the season if there is multiple teams in the promotion/relegation race.

It’s laughable that Sky have chosen to televise Leeds over Ipswich. If roles were reversed they would have televised………Leeds.

They are showing both

City mid table again, Ashton and all his cronies promoted to the prem, Szmodics finishing championship top scorer.

What a day for the board.

Just wait till Pearson gets appointed as next Plymouth manager and signs James and Williams on frees then appoints King as coach.

Watch them finish higher than us next season.

“bE caRfUL wHAt You WiSH fOr” 🤪🤪🤪…….yeh, i wish for a competent owner or chairman that could of worked properly with Ashton and enjoyed the success he obviously could bring if kept in check…..not some tax dodging exile and a bloke who puts crayons in his sandwich……Thank **** it’s over for a few months.

On Ipswich I don't want to go on but they inherited and handed over a good financial position post Evans

Nothing like for us, nothing like whatsoever. We nearly were ruined (in FFP terms). Their injury record? Abnormally good considering some of the player ages etc.

We could of done exactly the same the season we came up with Cotterill FFP wise, but the board thought better of it. Fair play to Ipswich.

Fair points although the pedant in me points out that the rules were different then but there were no points deductions for breaches so could've gone either way.

The Rule changes seem to catch us at bad times..it was 1 year £13m loss plus Allowables but the following season snapped into 3 Year Losses.
