Okay, maybe you are right but that miss has become one of the biggest if not the biggest horse chestnut trotted out by some City fans who seem to be not very bright about football. There are many, many very talented footballers who have missed even easier sitters than that one. Has Lee's miss been truly massively significant in the history of our Club? Some seem to think so because they keep on repeatedly telling us about it. I say again did you see Miller's brilliant headed goal from a corner at Grimsby Town that meant we had won 10 on the trot and went top of the League. I'd say that was something about a hundred times more worth remembering. Edited April 21, 2023 by southvillekiddy

Not sure ive ever celebrated a goal so early as i did that one, for it not to actually be a goal!

It’s the same story with Gordon Owen , he missed two important penalties for the team in quick succession and his legacy is sullied. I remember a very skilled, nimble winger who was a pleasure to watch and who, no doubt , contributed massively to get to the stage where his misses were important.

Apparently in a nineteenth century play one chap keeps retelling the same old joke, which involves a cork tree. Another character says that the joke always used to be about a chestnut tree. Hence “that old chestnut.” Yes, I do have a lot of spare time today!

BCFCGav
Not usually in the transfer section this early but Beeb rarely cover ‘talks’ so there’s obviously a lot here. Seems pricey, we must really rate him. Centre-half is a priority, let’s hope we’ve found a star here.

jambodinho
Had a quick scan of the Aberdeen forum. They want him gone. Most don’t rate him. Doesn’t seem to have one position that he stands out in. Been playing wing back this season but can possibly play centre back and maybe defensive central midfield. £2m seems a lot, especially with tanner, Wilson, sykes that can all play right wing back. Maybe nige sees him as a centre back that can cover at wing back. Reading their forum, it doesn’t fill me with excitement but I trust Nige so hopefully he’ll improve us. Can play CB, RB, CDM. £2 mil isn’t much in the scheme of things, only 25 so should improve and has captained a few times so a leader. Imagine him, Palace CB, Currie and CM to come in. Similar to reports of us paying £8m for Massengo, when in reality the amount we will actually end up having paid will be much lower than that. Aberdeen fans have a reputation for being a tad miserable. I would expect Messi, should he have played for them, would have been described as ‘ nay bad’.

tin
While I was aware of the rumour I’m surprised at the £2m fee being reported, but as always the devil is in the detail. For that money, which goes further than the pre-pandemic market, I would hope we’re targeting specialists rather than utility players. Got any data on him, @Davefevs?
