Just been part of a team that beat Rangers 2-0 and have won seven on the bounce.

I watched bits of the game.  Wasn’t a game where you’d could form much of an opinion in fairness.

Playing RWB… not a position of priority at all with Tanner, Sykes and Wilson. Must be coming in as a right sided CB. Having done some research, I’m not loving 2 million.

I guess the RWB but isn’t hugely relevant, if we play with a back four.  Pretty sure Wilson don’t be here next season.  Whether he’s sold or loaned out, I don’t know but I don’t see how he has much of future based on recent match day 18 selections.

I’m not really one for black and white statements, but I do not see us paying anything like £2m, £500k+ maybe.

Also depends if £2m is the initial fee, or the total value of the package, of course. Similar to reports of us paying £8m for Massengo, when in reality the amount we will actually end up having paid will be much lower than that.

It would have to be conditional, surely?

While I was aware of the rumour I’m surprised at the £2m fee being reported, but as always the devil is in the detail.

For that money, which goes further than the pre-pandemic market, I would hope we’re targeting specialists rather than utility players.

Got any data on him, @Davefevs?

Lots….see separate post below ⬇️

We’ll have loads of money to spend when Scott gets sold for a huge sum in the summer plus the Semenyo deal

Nige has already said we will be continuing with our current approach to spending, ie not much.

Data from prior to today’s game.

Firstly as a CB:

IMG_7232.thumb.jpeg.c21f5551da13b4c825d958b94efd35d6.jpeg

Shows he gets in the ball a lot, and good numbers, but this is comparing his to other CBs, so if he gets on the ball a lot as full-back, it will possibly skew his data on the ball.

Now as a full-back (I include wing-backs in this data):

Again his numbers show up well.

A couple of other graphs, as a full-back:

Excellent aerial numbers, but you’d expect that for a CB / DM of good height playing RB/RWB compared to other FBs.

on the ball, he looks perfectly comfortable.

Thanks. So, on paper, worth £2m in your opinion? I wonder where he’s being brought in to strengthen and if this spells the end for Wilson

Nope.  Without having any real clue, I’d be surprised if it was even half of that.

Doesn’t seem to be playing at RWB

Transfermarkt use RM for RWB.  Annoys me a bit, but hey-ho.

6' 3. If he's at RB and Cam goes back to LB plus a new CH, maybe O'Brien, we're gonna have a mahoosive back 4 once Rob is fit again.

Where does Zac fit in though?

Simple answer: it’s a squad game!!! ?

If however, Zak cannot get a place in the team, we really ought to be happy, because it should mean we have become stronger.

I think Wilson’s future here doesn’t look too promising. Unless he pulls something out the bag in pre season…

Doesn't sound dissimilar to what was being said about Zak Vyner, during the last off season, and look what’s happened this season. So don’t write Wilson off just yet.

COYR.

AFC's own website describe him as a defensive midfielder (but versatile)

A versatile player, Ross is comfortable playing in the centre of midfield as well at centre back and right back.

He is vice captain.

Interesting to see their website provides stats on him @Davefevs

Had a quick scan of the Aberdeen forum. They want him gone. Most don’t rate him. Doesn’t seem to have one position that he stands out in. Been playing wing back this season but can possibly play centre back and maybe defensive central midfield. £2m seems a lot, especially with tanner, Wilson, sykes that can all play right wing back. Maybe nige sees him as a centre back that can cover at wing back. Reading their forum, it doesn’t fill me with excitement but I trust Nige so hopefully he’ll improve us.

Lots of Aberdeen fans saying £2m (if true) is nowhere near enough…

So some would drive him here themselves, whilst some would be disappointed if they didn't get more for him? It really is like OTIB over there.

Just had a read of their thread about him myself, and it seems a lot of them are blinded by the fact that he came to them from Rangers, something akin to being a Gashead.

I like the description of his work rate and "engine", but not about his lack of end product. Defensive midfield it is then. :)

Sounds like he's a right back who can play CB, I imagine he'll be contesting with Tanner for a place and also act as cover for injury. Aberdeen fans say his strength is his work ethic and determination rather than technical skills and he's better in his defensive role rather then supporting the attack. I imagine Nige wants to be in the same situation with defence as attack, ie have several options of similar ability and leave them to fight it out to get selected.
