That’s what I’ve read. Surely we wouldn’t be looking to pay anyone any more than 15k max?

Would be reasonable wage when propped by a chunky signing fee to balance the deal as OOC

That's the way it would be structured probably, keeps his agent happy too. It would still work out a lot cheaper than if we went out and bought a player of his level.

For me it actually makes a lot of sense.

Nige has shown before that he likes to have experienced pros in the squad to help set standards. This summer the dressing room is likely to lose JD, Kalas and maybe King. So that experience needs to be replaced.

Whilst Nige hasn't worked with JB before, Tinnion probably has. I'd imagine that Tinnion has a very good relationship with Joe and his family.

If you're looking to add experience to the squad and sign a player you can rely upon then Joe ticks all those boxes, especially with his connections to us. It's a no brainer really.

Lots have been said this season about our corners and free kicks and even long shots, Joe brings those attributes to the team.

Couldn’t agree more.

This is a 29 year old (30 in Sept) who is a player capable of being a PL squad / cover player, so to acquire a player like this at his age is a coup imho.

I’m sure (if this happens) due diligence has been done by both sides via the likes of Tins (as you say) and Schmeichel.

First time I watched him in 13/14 he played LM, then Cotts made him LWB.  Then LJ played him LB, then LM/W, then LB.  He played a few games CM under LJ too.

I appreciate many years have passed since you first watched JB  - I shall refrain from referencing the mention of a decade as in the Trigger and Rodney brush episode - but do you recall how you rated him at the time?

Did you see him as a future first team player, even a Premier League player, or just a competent teenager?

Whenever joe Bryan had a stormer, I remember it similarly to how I view AS7 now, not as technically gifted obvs. He’s one of those players who can glide with the ball at his feet, always looking up for a pass and has a killer cross on him. Would regard him as a bit of a set piece specialist as well.

If experienced and disciplined championship players is what we want I think he’s perfect tbh.

I've read a bit about people saying where do we fit him in, for me that doesn't matter, if he's available and wants to come back here, we find a way to fit him in! It would also ensure that if we did recieve an unexpected bid for Pring, we wouldn't be left short.

His career has stalled a little bit so unfortunately for him I don't see another Premier league club trying to sign him so it's likely he's going to have to drop down to the Championship.

He will need to take quite a bit of a pay cut tho. But I don't see that as too much of an issue as I don't think he'll have many suitors in the Championship that would pay more than us.

I hope that he will feel entinced by the project here and the improvements the club has made since he was last here. He should now be in the prime of his career but he needs to get his career back on track.

Personally I think he is very well suited to being a Nigel Pearson type player. He's very much in the Andy King/Matty James mould. I think he would very quickly become one of Nigel's trusted players.

Usually I'm against signing former players but this has a Louis Carey type of feel to it.

Thats a good shout about Pearson sounding out Schmeichels thoughts on JB.

My answer to your question is that I saw his debut against Leicester when McInnes put him in the team not long after his arrival as manager. I was very impressed how Joe dealt with such a big jump into Championship standard. And while at times in his career here, he seemed to be in a dream, I consider that if we signed another player of his standard and age for a sensible salary and no transfer fee (signing on fee maybe) we'd all be delighted.

First time I saw him was Rovers game in which he scored…but didn’t take too much notice of his play other than the goal.

SOD sacked, Cotts in, and he didn’t play much that first season, but I recall the televised cup game v Tamworth and I saw a tenacious youngster which was promising.

Obviously 14/15 at LWB he was fantastic.

Then 15/16, started the season ok (at a level up) but remember him getting whacked by Darickwa (Burnley) and he had a period in and out of the team.  Williams played LWB over him.  But he started regularly under LJ, and the rest is history.

Cracking player imho.

Exciting one personally for this, signed up here as the Joe Bryan Fan Club (JBFC) so my 15 year old self would be incredibly excited at the prospect of us signing him again!

Remember vividly one of his earliest games v Palace in the cup, being a QEH pupil I’d made a flag with a fellow City fan/classmate which we held out pre match on the touch line. Scotty spotted it and told Joe who came trotting over for photos and autographs, genuinely lovely bloke and made two young City fans very happy!

This one makes sense for a lot of reasons, hopefully he makes his return here

Would have thought it would be a hell of a pay cut to fit within our wage structure. If it can be done though then I’d be keen.

From 30th June his wages are £0. Has only played 7 times this season. I we are offering a 2/3 year deal on £10 / 15 k per week and the chance to come home then that must be tempting.

My view too.  We won’t be breaking our wage structure…so if he comes, it’s because he fits into it.

I can't really see him going anywhere else where he's likely to earn more than he would here. There is also the added benefit of being back in Bristol near his family etc.
