I don’t get your point? You could have said the same thing 5 years ago. And 5 years before that….and before that. Are you just happy were a football team that just merely exists or at what point do you want some ambition?

If , as you claim you’ve seen that long you might actually realise that failing to see anything through is a guaranteed way to fail

I’ve seen probably twice , probably three times what you’ve seen and seen us scramble to Div 1 once

Many of my years appear to actually appreciate what Pearson has done after inheriting a complete s*** show from literally top to bottom

I think he’s done a remarkable job , and I view results in during his tenure here whilst he completes massive surgery on the squad and budget , and in context of having lost Semenyo , Kalas , Naismith , Atkinson , Conway , Weimann for extended periods

All nailed on picks

The modern whining across football every time things don’t go A1 on a romp to promotion is incredible

Not just our fans , for example I’m astounded how quickly Millwall fans have turned on Rowett after nearly making play offs last season

FWIW Im happy see us have a squad of non wasters , mainly young , a manager developing a good culture and standards , holding our own in the Championship , with a view to building something

Maybe you’d like Boy Wonder back , maybe Holden .....

Who do you have in mind that will take this squad to the upper reaches of the Championship ?

We’d be making a huge mistake to let Pearson leave at the end of this season IMO.

Wages are under control, he’s starting to get some money to spend and it’s a critical time for the club’s future with the Scott money and Lansdown potentially looking for outside investment. I’d want no one else to guide us through this next couple of years.

Excited with the prospect of Nige potentially leaving after this season?

Controversial post I know. Now, don’t get me wrong, the job he has done to this point has been great. He has trimmed the wage bill and has had limited funds at his disposal since he’s arrived which could be detrimental to how his success will be perceived in years to come. Look at when Leicester won the premier league, a lot of credit came Niges way from the players who were involved who said if it wasn’t for Nige sorting issues behind the scenes they wouldn’t have had that success. Are we at a similar crossroads?

The football since he’s taken over hasn’t been great. We had terrible form at home for a long time, struggled to take the game to the opposition and have treaded water in mid table for his reign. Has Nige sorted the club out off the pitch but has subsequently ran his course with the club? Is SL ready to take the plunge in another manager with fresh ideas who will bring, in my opinion, a much needed footballing identity to the club? Perhaps why we’re seeing the purse strings tightened after the sale of Scott & Semenyo?

Entitely my opinion but I feel we need a new coach, not a manager, with a clear footballing identity and style of play to take us to the next level.

Controversial, no. Awful take, yes

With just one, fit, specialist, experienced central striker available in Wells, and Weimann's likely enforced absence with a heel injury, do City have any financial wiggle room to recruit a number 9 before the transfer deadline of 11pm on Friday September 1st?

I do really hope so because it would give us a much needed physical presence and goal threat up top.If we had a target man last night we would have won the match for sure.I think between now and the transfer deadline day will determine whether Mr Lansdown is really interested in promotion to the Premier League.I hope he is but not confident.

Another game with terrible stats for a home team and starting to play players out of position…..things LJ & DH we’re absolutely castrated for.

Ooof, bit severe. Could have just castigated or berated them…

Does anyone think we could possibly be holding on to funds for our next manager? Part of me thinks we’ll stick with Nige this season, he’ll keep us up and try to improve the current players, then when his contract ends at the end of the season we go our separate ways and give the next guy the tools he’ll need rather than let Nige have the money now when the plan is to not renew his contract? Can’t help but feel he knows he won’t be here next season and the club are preparing for life without him now and trust him to see us through this season so we can hand the club to someone else and they can bring in players they want with a bit more of a transfer kitty? Maybe a mutual agreement has been made and we’re currently keeping an eye out for the next manager over the course of the season. Just a theory of course but I do genuinely believe this is Pearson’s last season with us. So isn’t crazy to think the clubs decided to write this season off and go again with a fresh face in the summer.

I genuinely would not be surprised if SL has lined up LJ to come back and waste the money that we need to be spending now. He can expect a revolt if he does that.

I don't think he has or will. SL may be his own person but he's not as stupid as people seem to think he is and knows full well that our fans wouldn't be happy to see Lee back.

Uncle Steve is waiting to give the Alex Scott shaped golden egg he’s sitting on to a new cosy courtier who will rub his belly and tell him how lovely and rich and knowledgeable about football he is, and not blow his load on a nasty nasty man like Nigel who’s been around the block and won things. Why would he do that.

20+ years of managerial decisions say otherwise, Spike.

I think he’s just avoiding putting his usual £s into the club each season because he’s likely to be selling the club.  Every £1 he puts in he’s only gonna get a fraction back, so he thinks it’s a false economy to allow a decent budget.

I think he’s wrong (if that’s the case)

Sykes in a 3 man midfield?

And considering the club arent backing Pearson for a Scott replacement, he’s gonna have to try make it work with what we have. And that’ll mean trying stuff like this.

Now as a fan of many years & seen the lows of 82 & 3 back to back relegations, I keep going because I’m Bristolian & whilst they tempt your patience I genuinely love the club.

As a fan, I’m bemused by the timing of wage constraints after an extensive focus on squad reduction & raising £25m for Scott.

We clearly need signings & help & Pearson after doing everything he’s been asked to do must be thinking what’s the point as the club could be perceived as setting him up for failure.

If I was Nige with no financial imperative to work & no long term affinity with club & my boss kept asking me to deliver when asking me to cut costs & lose my best players then I’d think why bother & walk.

Perhaps it says more about me but what is the motivation for him to stay?  Genuinely can’t see why you’d stay & nobody could blame him if he did walk unless he knows that’s what Lansdown wants.

Has he played there for us before last night? Genuine question. Being able to play in a position and playing in your best position are 2 completely different things. Alex Scott had a stint at RB. We’d be up in arms if NP continued to play him there last  season.

I can fully appreciate that. I guess my main frustration comes from lack of replacements and selling our best assets year after year.

You and me both. I genuinely have no idea why, of all the times, Lansdown decides that now is the time to pull the rug up.

Hearing Pearson last night on RB depressed me and has properly dampened my excitement for the season tbh.

Tinnion went on record to say there’s a list of targets to sign if Alex stays, and if he goes. Pearson said Knight was signed to play alongside Alex for 46 games, not replace him.

Lansdown says…….we spent some of the Alex money ‘in advance of him leaving because we knew he would(??!?!??)’, and now there is no replacement, at all.

What changed? This is where we can just hope for a decent, challenging appearance on Radio Bristol or something not from the club media, because there’s a lot of stuff not adding up for me.

Completely agree. Sounded very peeved in the post match interview when asked about incomings. This guys done all of the donkey work, essentially fixed our FFP issues while keeping us in the division - only to be told having sold his best players, that he can't replace them. I don't think SL likes him, he's never given him the praise he deserves. Watch the next manager get the keys to the golden chest

No, having been used to rectify a decade of financial screw ups, be given little to no money to strengthen or replace key players when they are sold, I would simply wear down my contract and not resign (in order to not breech my own contract).

All the sayers calling for NP's head will not have to wait too long....he's already leaving....we just don't know it yet.

Any new contract will require confirmation of war chest....this will be the final nail in the coffin.

Great opportunity wasted. Would love to be a fly on the wall when NP tells SL to go and **** himself.
