  1. David Bowie - 5 times at 4 different venues. MK Bowl 1983 probably the best.* Massive Attack- Carcassonne Oasis - Toulouse x2 Stranglers - many times Wembley Arena probably the best. Simple Minds - Colston Hall Suede - Toulouse Arctic Monkeys - Carcassonne & Ashton Gate These stand out as my favourites among many others. * I had tickets for a 6th gig, walking distance from my home in France but he had a heart attack a week before. Gutted.
  2. Back to 8 points for a draw next year. Not sure why, I thought they’d have given the 5 points experiment longer.
  3. Yeah, I think I’m right in saying one of the efforts at doing the drainage didn’t go according to plan. Hopefully they’ll get it right this time and that’ll be that.
  4. Yes, all of those were real enemies at the time and I guess as we were shouting abuse at them on a fairly regular basis they became well known to us. Now I wouldn’t know one of their players if I was sat next to them on a train. Do they have a manager yet? The last bloke was at least recognisable and infamous.
  5. Somerset’s first two championship games will be away from home as they want to give grass extra time to grow after some more drainage work. At first I liked the idea of not having to go to Taunton in early April and get hyperthermia. But knowing are luck we’ll get warm sun at the start of April and freezing and wet at the end. Plus we’ll probably now have back to back games which makes attending a few days of each more difficult.
  6. There’s a couple near us in the lower Lansdown that turn up about 15 minutes into the game almost every game. TBF they don’t go out at half time and always stay to the end but rarely get there on time. Maybe they’re busy beforehand, everyone there have their own stories and reasons for doing what they do. Good on everyone for just turning up I say.
  7. I would go for Newport (a) followed by Fulham (h) the following week in early 1982. Both draws but what happened in between meant both were very emotional affairs.
  8. I guess if my son/daughter played for the Gas at some level I’d go and watch them but would never become a fan of the club. I must admit, unlike the 80s 90s when I’d know every player, I couldn’t name you more than 2 players at Rovers nowadays.
  9. St a Mary’s in a couple of weeks will be the 58th ground I’ve watched City play at. Probably near a 100 if you add the other grounds I’ve watched football not involving City, quite a few abroad including 8 in France. As someone else mentioned, it’s getting harder to watch City at new grounds as we spend so many years in the same division and nearly 40 years now in the same 2 divisions. I didn’t do any new last season but Leicester and Southampton are both new grounds, but not new clubs, this season.
  10. Besides his body language, which will improve as he gets to know those interviewing him, I thought it was ok. He couldn't make out it was a huge success or a dreadful day. He touched on what they did well and what they'll be working on. Not a whole lot more he could have said really.
  11. He hasn't posted anything on X for 2 months.
  12. Got to sort out either our passing into the box or movement in the box, probably both.
  13. Better last 10 minutes but our final ball into the box has been poor
  14. Cracking throw out from MoL to set up a rare chance. Quickly followed by another good chance
  15. Substitutions will be interesting. Cornick, TGH, Bell and Kal will all be chomping at the bit and could make difference
  16. Not quite the front footed, attacking play that was talked about…….yet. But early days and QPR are playing like they’ve got a new man in charge too, so stalemate.
  17. Did you have your VPN on when you tried to buy video? It will only offer audio if you’re in the UK
  18. What did Mrs 1960 think of Heaven 17 and did they play any songs that were catchy enough to turn into football songs? I met Glen Gregory in a pub once, a long time ago when we both had hair, now I’m trying to think of a players name that could replace “Temptation”
  19. Depends how many days off they get during the international break I've put 8, hoping for 9 plus but would take 8
  20. 50-1 1st goal or 22-1 any time with Skybet. Good shout. I can't be the only one who's backed Mehmeti, he's joint favourite with Weimann, not the money maker I had in mind
  21. Yes I think the cup game was Massengo’s debut. I was thinking of putting a bob or two on Mehmeti scoring, not just the new manager thing but I think Nige was beginning to look to him for a bigger role in the coming months.
  22. I hadn’t realised we’d won 5 in a row there, even though I was at a few of them. There and Stoke really are happy hunting grounds, long May it continue.
  23. When I was young I loved the Italian football shirt, what a beautiful blue! Blue and white quarters are easily the worst thing you could put on a shirt, even Blackburn’s halves are hard work.
  24. When I saw the boss wearing gloves at a training session when it wasn’t even cold yet, I was all ready to tear up my season card, or whatever one does with a digital version. Anyway, he took them off so promotion here we come.
