A time when averages are not the best type of number to use as you miss the extremes of the bell-curve! 😉

Totally get the point about defence in front of him making some shots easier.

    FWIW, here’s Max’s goals stuff.

Percent Ranks for the bars (Champ GK peer group)

    Squares are per90s

    Circles are percentages

So much better then average, albeit with help from the defensive unit?

Whenever a cross comes in with DB in goal, I was concerned that we'd conceed. With MOL I've got one eye looking up the pitch to see what's on once he's caught the ball.

Remember seeing the original deal details, and thought it alluded to this.

Question becomes whether RTV has enough benefit for overseas (and VPN) alone to continue being its own service or not.

I know it's hindsight, but the EFL not taking 25% of a combined PL+EFL combined deal that the PL offered back in the day was the worst move ever.

On second point, don't most overseas RTV subscribers have residence in the UK? So hopefully little impact on numbers. Also as all the broadcast facilities are in place, hopefully the broadcast costs are quite low.

What worries me is that sky sports restructure the sports pass, making costs prohibitive.

Pretty sure that picture is Clifton Bridge station, Ashton Gate Halt was a far more basic affair.

Ashton Halt was essentially on the opposite side of Winterstoke Road to the retail park next to the ground. The station pictured is at the the end of Clanage Road where it meets Rownham Hill - labelled 'Ashton Gate' on the map.  I assume that 'Clifton Bridge' is situated where the railway tunnel is below the suspension bridge - although to be honest, I'm surprised there would be a station there. I certainly didn't notice anything there in the 70s when I used to walk up and down the line as a child.

  4. Dickie, Knight, Max, James, Tanner

It's perm 5 from 6 or 7. Williams unlucky to lose out.

Mehmeti is slowly converting me. If he continues to make good decisions, and improves his defensive side a bit, then he'll turn into good player at this level. Probably say his improvement is down to the new boss, as Nige had binned him off.

First off - I thought the ref (Bobby Madley) was excellent throughout.

Secondly, I didn’t realise he was a last minute appointment. And the reason being he’s a Huddersfield fan and was originally supposed to ref Birmingham vs Cardiff and Blues protested in view of potential bias so they moved Sam Allison there!

    Ah, well done Brum.

Another nail in the coffin today anyway. What a pity.

Yes it’s nice win but you’re absolutely right.

I don’t think you can understate how poor Blackburn were tonight.

If a team wins 5-0 either you’re meeting a hugely talented attacking team or the losing team have capitulated.

Given the fact we’ve only won a game by more than 2 goals 3 times all season and only 8 teams in the league have scored less goals than us…

Add in Blackburn’s current bottom 6 form and the fact they have the 2nd leakiest defence in the league.

    Suggests more of the latter.

A nice win yes, credit for that - but IMo people probably shouldn’t get too carried away though on the back of tonight…

You can only beat what's in front of you. We've rarely been that clinical in the last few years (although we still missed several good chances), and I thought we harried and harassed them very well, were good at picking up second balls, and fully deserved the scoreline regardless of their mistakes.

On RB after the match, the summariser (haven’t a clue whom he was) said “I just hope that Matt can get it right because we all know that Rovers are a sleeping giant …”. FFS. Sleeping giant my arse.

It was a former player, Alex Somebody. He was playing to the converted. Mentioning The Championship and Bristol Rovers in the same breath should be certifiable - unless the word 'never' is included.

They’re sort of where we were, a fortnight ago. There are a few too many points and a few too many teams between them and the drop to make relegation a realistic prospect.

Dreams can come true, they can happen to you ...

Also the way we want to play has changed from counter attacking to sustained attacks with pretty patterns-so what you are saying can't be correct!

We give the ball away to much for me to even think we have 'sustained attacks'. And that sounds like no attack at all really as we rarely threaten the opposition goal. We still look better when we are allowed (and are playing well enough) to counter.

Sorry to quote myself but this annoys me. If a club makes an early admission of guilt and then recieves a discount because of that. Then surely if they appeal like Everton intend to do then they should lose that discount.

That's a good point. Sadly, I think they stay up. But we've always got a further inquiry re interest payments on the stadium deal and the unraveling of 777's involvement in the club to look forward to.

Bit hard not to be when it’s not segregated , there’s city fans in the pic too.0

When they have thousands of pictures they can use for promoting our end of season awards, why on earth choose one full of opposition supporters? They've just not thought about it, have they?

    2021-22: 15 wins, 62 goals, -15 gd

    2022-23: 15 wins, 55 goals, -1 gd

    2023-24: 15 wins, 46 goals, -1 gd

So we can improve on wins and gd this season, but goals continue to decline.

You're looking at Cardiff's goals for I think. We've got 44 so far this season. I guess we'll get another 5 or 6 and end up with about 50. Total Football. Don't worry though, Brain will be securing the services of a top forward or two in the Summer, because luckily, no other teams are after any.

Don't think Wednesday will be any different. Blackburn were happy with a 0-0 away point yesterday. I guess they will be happy with the same scoreline on Wednesday.

In old money "book". In new money "iplayer". Could even read the MDT real time, and keep up abreast of the moaning. Maybe it will be light enough to keep up with the shenanigans of the seagulls in the first half.

Guess what; another forum with pessimists posting their fears. https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/36942-v-bristol-city-a-10042024/

1; Bristol City are a menace. They are well capable of soundly beating any team in this division and equally can play like absolute dross. This could be an absolute chasing for us or a three point Ashton Gate benevolent evening and there is no predicting which it will be.

2; No real options to freshen things up will see us lose this 2-0 I reckon.

3; A tough one at Bristol, like yesterday it's very important we don't pick up early yellows and see out the first 15 minutes.

    1. If by 'soundly beating' they mean by a goal.

    2. If we score 2 I'll be amazed. But more amazed if we win by 2. Sammy S usually scores against us doesn't he? And apart from Sunderland, weren't we the only team to roll over to them  on their current bad run?

    3. Not as tough as you think if you sit back Blackburn, you'll probably be able to see out the first 90 minutes. A good game to gauge any perceived improvement under LM (and I mean improvement against the LM dross base and not against NP's base). This might be the game to turn me off renewing completely! Certainly if we play anything like yesterday. It could be a bit like the Cardiff game when both sides were very poor and scared to play on the front foot (whatever that is).
