My poor opinion of the SP is because there’s only two teams in it. The standard is L1 at best and why the Glasgow clubs win it pretty much every season.

If the SP is L1 at best, how do you explain Rangers results in Europe this season, or do you mean everyone except the top 2 is L1 at best?

  2. I think Nige is lucky he’s at a club which ‘generally’ gives managers time, as his results record so far is nothing short of appalling based on how long he’s been here.

Nearly all clubs have financial problems at the moment, and I know we are in a transition, but as a minimum I’d expect him to have gone back to basics at some point in the last year with the players he has at his disposal.

It’s funny that when we have a once in a blue moon good performance everyone is waxing lyrical about the players, young and old, but after another 2 defeats it seems the players are the problem and Nigel isn’t cause his hands are tied.  I don’t buy it.

I made this comparison a few months back (and got grief), but Barton came into Rovers a year ago as well, and also took them down, then started terribly after recruiting what looked like pretty poor players on paper (which were widely mocked on here I’m sure) and is now turning things around and they are on fire at the moment.

Ryley is from Mangotsfield, isn’t he?

It did make me think as Bristol continues to gentrify & areas that used to be full of Bristolians now seem more like London suburbs, does that mean those who sound Bristolian are more likely to be found in Kingswood or on the other side of the City, say Pill?

Yeh, he went to Mangotsfield School (my mate taught him) and I played with his (cough cough) Grandad for RMC Wick, and his Aunty used to cut my hair in Cleeve Wood!

From now on I want Riley Towler to be filmed every day being asked his opinion on some sort of philosophical question.  The world would instantly be a better place.

You're about five days late... this was for (as you say) World Wildlife Day which was last week.

Take a look again at the date on the link you provided.

Got a bit of a habit of posting things days late haven't you.

Another member of the forum police out in force (probably BS4 in disguise), I may have posted it late, but better that than being a sanctimonious *****

Lampard trying to play the high line press he did at Chelsea with vastly poorer players. They’re deep in the brown stuff

Lampard was a crazy choice for them in the position they are in, maybe if they brought him in the summer to work with the players etc etc but half way through when struggling he has zero experience, a massive gamble which so far is not paying off, however some poor teams below them and Leeds not far away so will be close

    Really??

Why do you want this to become a p*sing contest?

I’ve just called you out on a post(s) that in my opinion are delivering another false narrative.

FWIW I did the old “Prelim” back in the 90’s now hold EUFA B and have been a teacher for 25 years.

Heard he was on a pittance in footballers wages terms & absolutely nowhere near the amount quoted on that dodgy website guessing at players wages.

He wasn’t going to play, but was creating a bit of an issue with the fans wondering why we played all these others in his position over him, good business to terminate early I reckon.

A friend of mine lives near him and said Simpson is on first name terms with the Deliveroo driver!

  9. I’m not being funny but hard job as it may be,  Pearson’s record is pretty bad, must be one of the worst ever.  The end of last season on the trial period he did terribly, and this season has been similar.  Although shoots of progress in attack, defensive issues have never been addressed.  You have to wonder if he’s ever going to sort things out, especially if he has to sell our most promising assets in the summer.  This turnaround is as slow as turning the Queen Mary!

So like I said, you obviously never rate around 15 top tier managers every season ... they win nothing but try like mad to stay in the division ... I think that you weren’t entirely aware of Mark Hughes’ impressive achievements as a manager when you posted your disparaging remarks about him and you’ve been backtracking ever since ... ????

I haven’t back tracked once, I don’t rate him and I haven’t changed that stance, despite you getting funny about it, as I said I was aware of his “impressive achievements” before you went on Wiki, I still don’t rate him, how is that back tracking.

Not sure what your problem is mate, but if you don’t like other opinions then maybe you shouldn’t post on this forum, maybe join the Mark Hughes Appreciation Society instead?

..... and you ‘don’t rate’ a manager who delivered consistent top half finishes in the top division in England for unfashionable clubs - Blackburn, Fulham and Stoke ... laughable, yet you probably didn’t realise his achievements before posting guff ... ?

You need to get over me having a different opinion to you, what’s with the aggro?  I was fully aware of his “achievements” before you went on Wiki, chill out mate

Over the decades you must have ‘rated’ very few managers then - for the clubs of which Mark Hughes was manager, just staying in the top flight was an achievement - let alone consistently finishing in the top 10 - what would you have thought of a Bristol City manager who delivered three consecutive 9th place finishes in the top tier, as Hughes did at Stoke? You’d have probably been calling for a statue of said boss to be erected outside Ashton Gate - or would you have said ‘Meh, he didn’t actually win anything’ ...

If we ever get to the Prem and stay there then I will no doubt be annoyed that we haven’t made the Champs league places!

I always want to strive for more, just staying in the prem doing nothing and winning nothing, like Hughes has done, is not for me, it’s dull, what’s the point of it, If you like or rate Mark Hughes that’s fine, I don’t mind.
