I do wonder if he was making a point with regards higher ups re reliance on the academy, as well as to us as fans.

    Either way. Onwards and upwards.

Surely if he was making a point then it didn’t work as we won!

It was so much better without slow coach Martin, really hope we have seen the last of him in the starting 11 .

My only gripe (aside from the ref), is NP should have bought Wells on for either Weimann or Semenyo with about 20 mins to go when we were still in with a real chance of winning it.

Just reading a biography of Alex Ferguson and he would bring on 2 new strikers in the 78th minute more often than not when needing a goal, apparently the stats are there to prove it, if only we had another 2 decent strikers to bring on!

I think aesthetically it looks quite nice as new builds/redevelopments go - but agree it is pretty soulless. Atmosphere is generally pretty poor due to location of vocal fans relative to away support and the insistence on keeping lights on during night games doesn’t help. All these little touches add up.

The atmosphere is soulless because we’ve been crap at home for years so nobody is singing, nothing to do with the stadium design.  Via Man Utd it wasn’t soulless was it, why do people keep pumping this untruth

Legalise it, regulate it and tax it, as well as all other drugs, think of how we could positively use the raised revenue.

And in the process take the money away from global criminal gangs who use drug money for terrorism, buying weapons, human trafficking etc etc but the government will only do something radical like this if they accept that cocaine use is rife through all walks of life, not just the junkies living in squats which is the perpetual image of drug users.

I can't remember where I heard/saw it, but I think one of the plans was to relocate into a bigger site in the new build for the Basketball . Whether that's still the case, who knows . They could have all the replica kits etc, under one roof though.

That’s what I thought was happening, this is almost a temp site (hence why not that big) as plan always to have a ‘superstore’ when the arena is built

  6. Noel Gallagher got grief 25 odd years ago after saying taking drugs was like having a cup of tea, but he also went on to say that the sooner society accepts that people from all walks of life (including politicians) take drugs then the better we will all be.  The propaganda for years in the media has been that people who take drugs are bad and evil and need to be punished etc etc etc when the reality is that anyone from any walk of life takes drugs, especially coke, but the users arnt the problem, it’s the suppliers which need to be targeted as the money made is used in even more sinister ways.  Legalisation and control of drugs would be much more effective than the current prohibition which clearly doesn’t work, and would help with other problems in society.

So many of my friends do or have done coke and other stuff, and they are all what you would call successful middle class people in decent jobs with families etc.  To them coke isn’t perceived as any different to having a pint, in fact it’s more like having a bag of crisps with a pint.

If you only think people who do coke wear stone island you are in massive denial about what’s actually going on.

I will caveat this post with I don’t or haven’t done coke, it’s not for me.  I did enjoy having a smoke for a long time until I gave up cigarettes, but stick to the beer these days!

On the 5.00pm news some Prem Managers were moaning that they have to play if poss and over Christmas that's three games in just five or six days with only 14 players. But we keep being told today's players are much fitter than those of previous generations. Hmmm; 3 games in 4 days at Christmas and Easter. No subs before 1965 and then only 1.

I think part of the reason players are fitter and stay fitter, in general, is because they arnt getting flogged playing too many games as the science is now understood and re overt is important if you want your players performing.  Back in the day players used to play on when injured as that’s what was done, and end up having to retire or finish playing much earlier due to injury (Cheesley running up and down the Dolman steps to gain fitness is an example of poor understanding).  They get paid a fortune but they are also worth a fortune and cannot and should not play too many games without appropriate rest.  The Xmas games are a joke really, no need for them at all apart really.

Incident alert .... after the Huddersfield goal their player ran towards the Lansdown Stand Cupping his ears. Que a lot of abuse. However after all settled down a guy half way down the stand was livid with a lot of finger pointing at another fan a few rows behind him. This escalated to him talking to a steward. More stewards arrived and spoke to the erroneous guy. Meanwhile the guy who was offended was going appaplectic with rage. More stewards arrive and eventually they escorted the erroneous guy out.

Whilst I did not hear what was said it appeared a racist slur was used. Well done to the City stewards for putting the zero tolerance rule into action.

It was a brilliant night. My kids still talk about it. What an atmosphere.

Shows that the new stadium design doesn’t impact the atmosphere if all 27k are singing their hearts out and the team is playing well!  Great night, my 2nd best night at the gate after Palace playoff second leg I think

The irony of coming from places like Blackburn or Stoke and the saying 'Bristol's a shithole' is gargantuan.

If Bristol really is a shithole, that would make Stoke a major sewage works with countless tonnes of foetid crap swilling about.

Im pretty sure they are not chanting ‘Bristol’s a shithole’ because they actually think it is, it’s just a chant

MC, Liverpool, Chelsea and MU all got pens yesterday. Coincidenc ? He he

Liverpool easily could have had a couple more pens that weren’t given, so what does that say about a conspiracy?  The reason the best teams get more pens is they are in the other teams box a lot more, that’s it, no conspiracies

In yesterday’s match day thread, @ExiledAjax informed us that Downsy had a penguin on his Christmas jumper, figuratively speaking of course.

As he pointed out quite correctly, this is a cultural nonsense, for penguins are found in the southern hemisphere and, as we all know, Father Christmas, or Santa Claus, and his workshop are based at the North Pole; antipodal points of the sphere we know as Earth, polar opposites if you like, i.e. North Pole and South Pole.

In support of EA’s valid observation, I happened to mention a question I had seen in a children's quiz some years ago that asked something along the lines of:

The walrus has a diverse diet, and has even been known to eat seals.

    However, they don't eat penguins.

    Why not?

Now, this is a serious subject, particularly at this time of the year when Father Christmas and his elves are busy wrapping their presents and preparing the sleigh and feeding the reigndeer, so you can imagine my disappointment when I read such puerile (perhaps infantile) responses such as 'walruses don’t like chocolate', or 'they can’t get the wrappers off'.

Well, for those of you interested, the walrus, like the polar bear, is only found at the North Pole, whereas penguins are confined to the South Pole.

    Here ends today’s lesson.

Artic has Bears, Antarctic no Bears!
    Origin of the Name "Antarctica"

Antarctica means 'no bears'. It is true that there are no bears in Antarctica, but the name comes from a Roman version of the Greek word that is antarktike. ... Thus, Antarctica means opposite of Arctic land, “Anti-” plus the Arctic which forms a compound word.

I couldn't agree more mate, does my nut in as well.

All this Woke and PC rollocks and people who want to be called 'they' and all this other weird shite going on.

Dudes with grooves, and chicks with dicks.

Imagine having the tommy tits and having 12 bog doors to choose from.

What’s weird is why you seem so annoyed by other people wanting to call themselves they/them?   Do you even know anyone who wants to be called they/them?  If not then why get annoyed?  Let go of that anger, be free!
