    More than one, actually.

Given the tendancy for the media to be rather 'loose' with their definitions, the expression 'former England International' could have been used to describe a player who, e.g. was called up to the England squad (but didn't play), a player who played for England Saxons....

Issue we have was the same as Delph at Everton. He was targeted but it wasn't him because the info that was released matched him and one other player.

You're correct though, there are 3 Sale players who fit the profile now. So we have two innocent parties.

  2. Well, it's a 29 year old rugby player who was in Manchester and is an England International who isn't in the current team

Sale play in Manchester and they've released a statement a few mins ago saying its their player. There is a 29 year old former England International who plays for them. But I'm not naming names.

  3. England Rugby player arrested on suspicion of rape.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jan/12/former-england-rugby-union-international-arrested-on-suspicion-of-rape

A certain bath player was named by a website (the same website that named the Everton player when nobody else would) and said player's wife has gone on social media saying its not them. (but that's what the Everton players wife did as well).

Leaving aside the issue of how the big 4 get obvious decisions in their favour, that is ridiculous, isn’t it?

It is either used in every game in the same round of a competition or not at all, that is a ludicrous decision.

    Agree wholeheartedly.

Going back to VAR, I thought it wasn't being used in the FA cup, but obviously Manure get a different set of rules.

I believe that It's only being used at premier league grounds in the cup. So if Cambridge played Newcastle at home in the last round, no VAR. But as it was at St James Park, it was being used.

I’ve never really got the Rashford love in to be honest.

Always saw him as a perfect impact sub. Quick, direct with his dribbling and a powerful shot on him. Great on the counter.

I think he's just burned out, physically and mentally. A lot of football for both club and Country.

It wasn't him though, it was another player at the same club, Delph was incorrectly assumed to be the person.

May sound daft with the amount of evidence but I would assume Man City could be on a sticky wicket until he is actually found guilty and charged. As improbable as it seems but if he was cleared of all charges then he could go after the club

That's what @Numero Unois saying though. The club made an announcement that a 31 year old first team player was suspended and there were only two 31 year olds at the club at the time. One of them Delph.

Course it wasn't him because he's played this season but it meant that he was being targeted as a possible player at the time.

I’ll leave this thread now. No problem.
Not sure how you can label it nonsense though. It’s what they said. It’s what they promised you. They lied to you. Are you saying that they didn’t actually say the things they said on that video? ?

Someone will claim its a very good deep fake video.

After all, Biden, gates and the rest of the American political establishment and media moguls would never lie.

Yeah, that's a joke and as I've said before meant that a fellow player (Delph) was also named and shamed on social media of the issue in question at the time.

I'm going super injunction because there's more to it than meets the eye. Maybe they've uncovered some large scale crimes and it was more than just one footballer and one child.

Be surprised if they are paying him when he is on remand.

They were aware of the accusations in November 2020 and continued to play him rather than suspend him pending further investigations. Granted at the time the player could not be named for legal reasons in the media and people would have wondered why he wasn't playing.... Then again, match of the day, sky sports, bt sports etc have not questioned rafa benitez as to why a certain Everton player hasn't been selected all season and isn't even registered to play in the squad and even confirm who the suspended player is.

I’m reading the Alex Ferguson biography called ‘Alex’ at the moment, and apparently he would split his squad into 3 age categories:

    - under 23’s;

    - 23-28; and

    - over 28.

His aim was to have 3 players for each outfield position, and those 3 would be from each age category, the under 23 to keep the older player on his toes, the player in their prime aged 23-28 to be the main man, and then the old head in the over 28 category for experience.

The next important part to ensure longevity of success and keep the squad rolling forward with consistency was to ensure the contracts of players in the 3 age categories, or equally 1 position are not elapsing at the same time, I.e. you don’t want all your 23-28 players ending contracts at the same time, or you don’t want your 3 left back contracts running out at the same time for example.

This relatively simple process ensures that you know exactly where you are in terms of squad experience, what gaps might be coming up, helps to identify what types of players you might need and when you might need them.  If another club snaps up your under 23 left back then you know you want to bring in another under 23 left back, not one whose over 28.

I don’t know what City do or if we follow anything like this process, but it would be quite a good way of measuring where our current squad sits on the ‘Alex Ferguson experience scale’.  Anyone got the time to do this? ?

Well he had the benefit of being the manager for such a long time, he could mould the under 23s in to what he wanted and would reap the benefits of them as they got older in to the other age brackets and then the cycle would start again with the new youth players.

The class of 92 teenagers he brought in to the team in the mid 90's alongside Keane, Cole, Schmeichel etc for the treble success in 1999 when they were in their mid 20's.

The same applied for the 2000's team where Rooney & Ronaldo were signed as teenagers in the early 2000's but they were at their very best in the later stage of the decade when they were in their mid 20's and United won 3 leagues, a champions league and got to the final of 2 others in the space of 4 years (losing both to Barca's Messi, Iniesta, Puyol side).

Would love City to have success with academy players.

    Happy Christmas ?

Had this discussion with my family earlier. Just one Christmas day sat on a beach, whether that's in the Carribbean, Australia, doesn't matter. Just to say we've done it once.

They had Bradley on Talksport earlier, came across as a really nice lad passionate about the club and devastated that he was in this position and how badly the club was being run. He said GMP couldn't impose any ban and no law had been broken so they would not be getting involved and he was also advised he could still attend away games.

They asked for a Oldham representative to come on and 5mins later the owner phoned in from the UAE I couldn't catch everything he was saying as the line wasn't clear and I was driving but he basically said it was his club and he could do what he wanted, he also felt the protests were aimed more at his family and the club than himself and that was what offended him!!

He was a arrogant **** and stood stead fast by his decision. When asked if they could attend games he told the presenters they could come back only if they apologised and promised to "behave" when asked what he meant by behave he skirted around the issue but basically said don't criticize.

Talksport are good at putting up clips of their shows on YouTube.

Not listened to it yet. Playing once I have pressed submit reply.
