    Rob, let’s not be silly here,

    We played one game 114 years ago, plus a Wembley one off kit and then the champagne gold with light blue piping, have I missed any others?

    I’ve already stated that, but you cannot use that as an excuse to have a blue away kit, something that has never been done before (bar a one off kit).

    Our main rivals play in blue, Bristol City do not play in blue.

    Why are you so sure the away kit will be blue? Because of the light blue training range or have you heard/seen something?

    Asking genuinely btw, not a dig. Fwiw I hope it's not blue.

    I'm really surprised at this. Have always bought GAA jerseys over the years from O'Neills and they're generally fantastic quality, better than most old City shirts I've had. Honestly no idea what has gone on here.

    Tin hat on, how many of the people complaining about the shirt quality have actually held/worn one? I share the frustrations about the splat robin and poor communication from the club, but I won't speak on the shirt quality until I've bought one and seen for myself. I remain mildly optimistic.

  3. CB, CM need. GK nice to have. I’m not worried about our forwards at all, 2 good players ready to go across each position of the front line.

    If we lose Scott and use the big old bags of money to land Cole Palmer on loan, I’d like that. Midfield options of James, Knight, Palmer (first choice); Williams, King, Weimann (second choice).

    Yes, I will indeed.

    Naismith - knee

    re OTC, SPH, Harry Leeson, etc, then they played midweek, so we just played the 2x11 needed for 45 each.

    No Bajic, HWR picked over him.

    Fab, thank you Dave. Any early indication of a timeframe for Kal?

  5. We back.

    As per, I’ll update after each game with a list of unavailable players and any info worth mentioning. I’m sure @Davefevs will post some visual representations of players availability as per years gone by as well, which is a very welcome and useful addition to the thread. Thanks in advance Mr. Fevs.

    To kick us off, following our opening pre-season friendly:

    Injured:

    Atkinson

    Benarous

    The only names I was surprised to not see today were Taylor-Clarke and, more concerningly, Naismith. Hopefully this will be addressed by the club in the post-match content.

    Mods: pin if you feel so inclined ?

    Fair point looking back over the last few seasons, however the article refers to the teams in their current respective divisions, so I think the article should only base their findings on the here and now.

    ...or to put it another way, let's ignore the article as they're shit stirring ?

    Yea mate it's just controversy for clicks. I'm certainly losing no sleep. At the end of the day, big club or small club, you get three points for a win so who gives a fart! :D

    I dont know the answer to this, but thought I'd ask.

    What does our spending on incoming transfers look like in comparison to other clubs in our division this pre-season? I know wages also play a part in that, but was curious that a clubs size could also be somewhat dependent on their spending power also.

    Without taking the time to dissect other clubs business, I'd guess we're around maybe 5th to 10th for money spent this window? Sounds as though we've spent a little under 5 million on McCrorie, Dickie and Knight. Coventry just splashed 8 million on Ellis Simms, so they're immediately clear of us.

    Worth bearing in mind, looking at one window in isolation can be quite misleading. Prior to this window, we've been very cautious financially with free agents and small fees (George Tanner) for a good two or three years, as we navigated FFP issues. This summer, we seem to be past said issues and with the Semenyo sale and a potential further big pay packet coming for Scott, we've loosened the belt substantially.

  8. ‘Big’ and ‘small’ club is intentionally vague. If you’re talking attendances we’re pretty big in the Championship. If you’re talking honours/trophies we are indeed in the ‘small 6’. Stadium/facilities we’re big. Historic League position we’re probably middling to low.

    But if random Twitter accounts want to name us a ‘small 6’ club, the best thing we can do is prove them wrong.

  9. Didn't realise all three GK kits had been 'announced'. Must've been when we got the home and third kits back around April time? Which GK shirt goes with the yellow third kit does anyone know? Of course the black one at the front will be used alongside our red home kit, I'm guessing the blue GK kit with the yellow third kit and the pink with the un-announced away kit?

    Someone just made a good point on Twitter, that all 3 goalkeeper shirts have the official club badge. Surely there should be some rule on teams using different badges on players shirts during the same match.

    This is a good point. Between this and the ever-changing home kit, this is all getting a bit out of hand!

    I'd say with no more in's and outs I think this is more how the squad would be seen by Pearson with Naismith also playing in the midfield should Taylor-Clark not yet meet the level expected from him by Pearson. I mean sure we could sign another CB and then we'd have Naismith as cover in the middle but looking at how many names we have who will want game time and the strength we have in-depth I'd say we're pretty set for the next season.

    Yea I said the same. Wanted another centre-half but singing Knight means we have more than enough in midfield to utilise Naismith at LCB.

    How good is that team/depth on paper btw? The bloated squad of misfits of two years ago feels like decades ago.

    The thing is it’s not an auction (with a reserve price ?).

    Hence bidding wars rarely happen.  It’s a bit of a fallacy in football.

    City will speak to interested clubs, they’ll say we want <insert terms>.  If two clubs meet those terms, they don’t then try to bid against each other…it’s then a case of trying to win over Alex…they’ve already won City over.  They will put their attentions and £££s in the offer to Alex not giving us more money!!

    If however neither side meets our terms, then we might play one off against the other trying to get nearer to our asking terms.  We might just say “goodbye”.

    I’ve seen you raise this point before Dave and have been meaning to ask you, if this is the case can a selling club not refuse to give a set value? Can they say to interested parties ‘stake your claims’ and effectively auction their player to drive up sums?

    So team x offers 20 million, the selling club leaks that info and says ‘not enough’, team y knows 20 won’t get the deal done so offers 21 million, so on and so on until all but one team has backed out and you have a winner? I realise this isn’t how it works, I guess what I’m asking is can it be?

    If this all happens ideal MF for me is

    Naismith

    Scott Knight

    Sure there will be plenty of rotation and would be a big ask of two young lads and someone newish to the position in Naismith. Just think the energy and ability in that 3 could be up there with the best in the league.

    Not a midfield I'd be unhappy to see at all. I'm just so reticent to not use Matty James in an ideal midfield. But that's ultimately a good thing, options and high quality competition. As things are we have Naismith, James, Scott, Williams, Taylor-Clarke, Weimann and Benarous vying for the three midefield roles (Weimann and Benarous for the more advanced midfield role). Add Knight and our midfield is strong and deep.

  13. I heard hungry like the wolf on the radio the other day and realised it had a ton of chant potential. While driving I thought of…

    Conway’s so fine, first touch is sublime;

    he’s on the hunt, he’s after you;

    He’s 20 years old, a sight to behold;

    and heeeee’s hungry for a gooaaaaaaaal.

    Open to amendments/criticism ?

    For iPhones, go to your Apple Wallet and onto the season pass. In the corner, there will be a circle with three dots, click this and on the next page make sure "Automatic Updates" is enabled, then pull down on the page to refresh/update the pass:

    I could kiss you, this was the one thing I was a little apprehensive about but sorted. Thanks for the guide ??⚪
