They so deserved to be on the winning team today. I can’t overstate the week they’ve had for us.
I’ll admit with shame, I had the dumbest feeling we’d see a regression from Vyner this season. On the three played so far, he may have gotten even better. Beautiful again today.
Dickie has been everything I hoped when we signed him. Before a ball was kicked I called him my signing of the summer. And that’s no mean feat with the other lads we’ve brought in. He’s been a wall and can do little wrong in my eyes.
These two have me dreaming!
Joe Bryan - it could’ve been you

That was spare room LIMBSSSSS if the highest order. Me and my pa just dropped the house price.
What. A. Moment.
Matty James - take a bow and then 10,000 more.

Barring Bajic taking the bench keeper role from HWR (loan lined up for Harv maybe?), it’s the same 20 from Wednesday, including Yeboah on the bench! Good on the lad. So no new knocks, no new returns.
Injured:
Atkinson
McCrorie
Benarous
Weimann

We also got the brilliantly named Tim Ap Sion out of Guernsey, but all a little quiet on him. Very young though.

Offloaded an injured player, result…
OTIB. COYR. Everything is fine.

Totally agree but with TC now out until November it’s imperative that we bring in a striker . We now run the risk however of being rinsed by another club if we buy though so I honestly believe that now is the perfect storm of circumstances where we should break our no loans rule !! ( Presuming Nige can’t pursuade his Bessie mate Jamie Vardy to join us as a player coach of course ! …….. I can dream )
Oooh give me a season of Vardy ball

He’s developing quickly into a favourite of mine. A good centre-half is a game changer.

A few positives to take on a tricky afternoon for us:
-£20+ million, 25 achievable according to some journos, secures the club for years. Many clubs can only dream of that kind of influx.
-The 4 players we have brought in, and previous windows, show Tinns and the team don’t miss very often. They have money now.
-Jason Knight needs one more goal this season to better Scott’s total last season and it’s August 9th. It’s the current pecking order, B’mouth took our Starboy but our status as a Championship club meant we could take Derby’s.
-In very recent memory, our academy has given us Scott, Semenyo, Bell, Conway, Kelly, and Benarous. Araoye, Yeboah, Palmer-Houlden, Kinght-Lebel and Francois are loading, and who knows who’s after them. Scott was generational, but the way our academy is going, we’ll have more stars coming soon.
Chins up. Big season ahead.

On the Ipswich forum they are debating whether the fee is to Ashton's fault or credit.

Just soak it all up. The Ashton implosion a year or two from now is going to be a sight to behold.

CB. Could we look at Tom Holmes out of Reading? 100 odd Championship appearances but still young, 2 years left on his deal might make them consider a sale at 'optimum price' like us with Scott. Solid injury record.
He might want to return to the Championship and boost his wages so we could have him pushing from his end too to keep the price respectable. Any graphics @Davefevs?
-
Assuming ANY of the add-ons are triggered (I'm sure some will be), that makes this a club record sale. Previous was Webster, 20 million flat?

Fabrizio'd.
20 million, 5 million in add-ons (hopefully achievable add ons, we may never know the ins and outs). That's a LOT of money for our club.
Good luck Alex. Seemed a good kid.
If we play Bournemouth in our impending League Cup run, have a stinker for us son.

Atkinson - New Year(ish)
McCrorie - Who knows ?
Benarous - Fit, played for U-21s this week
Weimann - Possibly ok for Saturday
Conway - End of October(ish)
So, two out long term and one that is a mystery.
The McCrorie one is certainly new ground for me, 'bacterial infection'. Sounds more ill than injured. Looking forward to seeing him play.

Yeah I was thinking that. I guess they wanted to rest midfielders, not defenders though.
Might’ve been about continuing to build the Vyner-Dickie combo too. Get them more familiar with one another’s game.

Win win. Two good players battling it out for the starting berth. Be happy with either on the team sheet.
-
My only whinge from tonight is I’d have liked to have seen Araoye or Knight-Lebel get some first-team minutes while we were so comfy at 4-1/5-1. Opportunity to rest Zak or Rob too. BUT was really cool seeing Yeboah get a run out, and enjoyed his pace and presence. Looked very bright.

Would rather QPR than Norwich of course, but home and doable so we’ll take it.
Good win tonight, well in lads ️
-
Vyner and Dickie looking a good pair, and with Naismith back we have a more than able deputy out of midfield. Well done to the centre-halves ️
-
Hopefully a clean bill of health from a dominant win tonight, no sign of any injuries. In a week where our two star-boys are tearing hamstrings and chasing premier league dreams, battering Oxford and silencing that away end helped a little.
He stays on the list til it’s confirmed

Naismith back on the bench is a massive boon. Smart as well not to throw him straight in, more likely to need him against Millwall. Yebaoh on the bench due to dwindling numbers, be cool to see him get a run out.

I've possibly overreacted a tad then.
2020-21 was unbelievable. You're saying we were about average in 2021-22 and 2022-23? Or indeed slightly better.
So frustrating though, we have to be aiming at doing a bit better. Not as if we habe large resources and a deep squad, it is starting to look a bit dangerously thin.
Tanner, Vyner, Dickie, Pring, Roberts
James, Williams, King, Knight
Sykes, Cornick, Bell, Mehmeti
Wells
Who am I missing, seniorish or regularish outfield wise. No I am not including Leeson, Knight-Lebel or Araoye for these purposes.
Easy to be frustrated, I wouldn’t call it an overreaction. It’s certainly very frustrating. Law of averages says we’ll have a season soon where it all clicks, and it’ll be penalties and availability galore

Is that 20 separate offences? That’s bordering on full time work!

Looking forward to tonight. Another dose of Ashton Gate after a long summer and hoping to see one or both of Araoye/Knight-Lebel in action for the first time.
Draw is directly after the match so should we progress, we'll know our next opponents almost immediately.
Joe Williams to score.

Like the Squad Updates thread I think it would have been better if last season's Injured List thread had just continued in to this season.
The Injured List has been going for a few seasons now and it would be fascinating (to me anyway) to see it all on one continuous thread from the start to show just how consistently bad our injury situation has been over the last few years.
Perhaps the mods could link them all together?
Is this possible @phantom ?
Open to this would be interesting.

Don’t keep a close eye on others but I would guess the last two seasons we’ve been about average/slightly better than average. The season before that, and this season thus far, I think one of the worst.

Hopefully not - as I hope there’s plenty of competition - but that’s a week two contender for Champaign moment!
