Needlessly changing the formula for sure, but not the death of the FA Cup imo. I'll still be watching.
Also, ET and penalties is better than a replay imo. Better to get a result on the night and gives the lesser team a better chance of progressing.

I thought they might drop the away kit tonight anticipating some backlash to the e-ticket news earlier, but not to be.

The only problem is that Mbappe doesn't want to play as a central striker, as he made clear to PSG.
Which does complicate matters. They should’ve gone all in for Firmino imo. Free transfer, and can play central facilitating the two wingers. If they’d managed to sort that and Mbappe, and played a front 3 of Mbappe, Firmino, Vini in front of the prior mentioned midfield… damn.

Disagree, Klose Modric & co are past it IMO, Vinny Jr is top #3 LW in the world and Mbappe is not a necessity
Yep Kroos and Modric are on the way out but that only tells a small story of their midfield strength.
Tchouameni - best young dm in the world.
Camavinga - young cm (albeit used at LB last season), massive ceiling.
Valverde - fantastic young dynamic cm.
And now Bellingham. They’re transitioning from the best midfield in the world (Casemiro, Kroos, Modric) to the new best midfield in the world (Tchouameni, Bellingham, Valverde).
Front line is much quieter, Vini and Rodrygo both fantastic but Asensio is leaving and new signing Joselu is unlikely to be of required quality. Hence, go get Mbappe.

Fair point @Lrrr, the answer to Q20 should be Alex Scott then.
@Red Army 75 and @BCFCGav you'll need to adjust your scores as necessary.
In that case, my final total is 26.

Not abour Bellingham but about Mbappe and Madrid..
As per Le Equipe PSG will be selling Mbappe with FFP in mind. Wonders will never cease although it has taken a very long time to bring them to heel.
This is more what Madrid need. Bellingham is a fab signing but midfield was probably their strongest area prior to his joining, it certainly is now.
With Benzema gone they need to consider attack, if they can bring in Mbappe and a more central player that's one hell of a front line along with Vinicius.

Will be fascinating to see how this plays out - is she caretaker just for pre-season or will she be given a run of matches at the start of the season I wonder? Wish her luck regardless, cool move from FGR.

Still being compared to Grealish, it's so lazy. Alex has more facets to his game than playing with his socks down!
I do wonder if the average fan of West Ham for example actually know what they would be getting. He's not a winger.
A podcast I really rate finally got to talking about Alex Scott in a 'suggested transfers' video, they spoke of the 'exciting left winger at Bristol'. Almost vomited. They're so knowledgeable about the Premier League but the second you dip into the Chanmpionship they haven't a clue!

It's just a pre season game.
Everyone has their own opinions. Man City counted it as one of the four in their 'fourmidables' season. It's not massive or anything but if you're in it, better to win it.

Community Shield is a one-off pre-season game.
I wouldn't class that as a meaningful trophy.

With their recent windfall from the Bellingham move, reckon we can ask for a tidy fee
We want £250,000 according to the papers. Nice 150% profit after one season! And he’s an option if he stays. Win win.

We're counting the Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Community Shield as "honours" now are we? Ok.
I’m using the words honours and trophies interchangeably. Obviously some are more prestigious than others, but all three of the above are legitimate competitions.

It must be pretty boring to be a Man City fan
If we ever won something meaningful it would be pretty much the best day of my life, even just getting promoted to the Prem would be up there. But for the second/third/fourth trophy in a lifetime I bet the feeling wears off, let alone four/five/six/seven in a season.
I think once you're one of these 'mega clubs', Man City at this moment, Man United circa 2010, it's about staying there. If Man City went 3 seasons without a trophy now it'd feel like a lifetime, and they'd get hammered for it by rival fans. Once you're at the summit, the motivation is to not fall back down. I'm sure very trophy win still feels very special - and nerve-wracking as ever.
4 minutes ago, Lrrr said:You counting the Papa Johns for their 21's?
Ha - not quite. First team honours only! The day an unders team wins the Papa John's, a small part of me will die.
-
Which isn't massively relevant to OTIB but I thought could be an interesting off-season discussion point regardless.
Between their treble win last season and their 'fourmidables' season a few years back, they have previous of going deep in multiple competitions simultaneously. Pep has been open in the fact that there isn't so much a 'priority competition' culture at the club, and more of an 'if we're in it, we want it' attitude. They've always taken the two domestic cups seriously under Pep, which has been to our detriment in both the League Cup and more recently the FA Cup. And now with their maiden Champions League stored safely in Manchester, they've qualified for the UEFA Super Cup; a tricky-but-very-winnable tie with Sevilla, and the Club World Cup where they will face clubs from South America, Africa and beyond.
So, 7 honours up for grabs:
Champions League
Premier League
FA Cup
League Cup
Club World Cup
UEFA Super Cup
Community Shield
Feel free to wager a guess at how many they get. I honestly wouldn't write them off getting the lot, they're a scary proposition, but I'll go 4. Hope it's lower though.

He’s just uploaded a nice video about his time with the club and a goodbye message.
Never seen that much go into a signing off message, especially from a player who had a tumultuous end to his time with us.
All the best Han. you and your massive hair will go far.

Good eye, I was hoping someone had put together a who’s who. I’ve heard all these lads mentioned but Francois seems to be held in very high regard, already had a first team cameo too iirc.

Safe flight lads. Dickie, McCrorie and Roberts will all be present, pros of early business.

No, only a handful of fixtures
Lunchtime, afternoon and evening but all will be live
No massive change to the current system then, barring introducing an evening game.

Am I understanding this right? All 10 prem games on the Sunday and all available to watch live?

I hope one day we find out why he pulled out of coming back this summer. Leaves a bad taste. Best way to show him is finishing above Millwall.

As Pearson said the other day, last season is done, it’s forgotten about. Tanner wouldn’t have been ‘dropped’ if he doesn’t start against Preston.
All that matters now is what happens between Monday just gone and the first game.
And McCrorie is our biggest outlay in a very long time. A good few years. We obviously really rate him as a player.
-
As we are:
Max
McCrorie Dickie Naismith Pring
James Scott
Weimann
Sykes Conway Mehmeti
Subs: Bajic, Vyner, Tanner, Roberts, Williams, Wells, Bell.
Just outside MD18: Wiles-Richards, Wilson, Atkinson (+), Taylor-Clarke, Benarous (+), Cornick.

I think McCrorie and Tanner will have the RB spot to lose. L1 loan, SPL loan might work well for us here. There's talent there and it keeps him on the books while sparing us a portion of his wages for a year.

Has it's pros and cons of course, and I can totally understand why people would like replays to stay. Especially the potential for big away days going out the window.
