I swear Gieffer was supposed to be really good at some point before bad injuries?

Would not be the first time we bring in a player who is not the player they were, but hoping we can get them back to their best. LJ being too confident in his own abilities.

Diony - Was apparently really good a year before we signed him at Dijon. But was apparently a disaster at his new club at the time Saint Etienne. Carried on being a disaster for us.

We had apparently agreed a 10 million pound fee if we wanted him permanently at the end of the season ?

Marley Watkins is another. Was very good for Barnsley, Norwich signed him. Had injuries and was apparently really poor for them.

So we gambled 1.5 million on him hoping he'd go back to the player he had been at Barnsley. Norwich fans could not believe it. The odd good game but never worked out for us.

Sure there's others too. Could even say Kasey Palmer, a ridiculously expensive signing for a player who couldn't have been playing that well as he couldn't get in our side!

Diony on loan at Red star Belgrade now.

That’s my concern, I just don’t have a lot of faith in those taking up the temporary reins. Just guessing but it might be that NP has had less involvement that we previously understood. If he has long Covid then it has been for a while. So were those assisting him having more of an influence, and the results down to them? Bit worrying if that is what we limping on with.

As we all know the trouble with Covid is that if affects individuals so differently, we have no idea about the time scales of long Covid. Harsh, but it has to be thought about is the fact that we cannot carry on, possibly get relegated and then NP decides he needs to leave.

I don’t think either party can afford to let things drift. I got a feeling NP will be given a little time, maybe a month or so and then he will be paid off due to his health. That way he can leave with dignity, whereas at the moment taking his heath out of the equation that doesn’t look possible.

The next few weeks will be a turning point, one way or the other for all.

Think the club has to do something in the next fortnight. There is a massive month coming up for the team and help of some sort is needed as can't see NP being back for a while.

I'm afraid that after 20 years it's time people woke up and STARTED blaming SL. It's his decisions. SL has been one of the least accomplished billionaire owners in British football history!

LJ and MA were his trusted men...the current debacle is down to the three of them.

Completely agree. There are still so many on here that don't realise what a mess we are in after all of the dross MA & LJ spunked money on. SL ultimately is to blame as like he told us it is his club and he will do as he likes.

In the 2017/18 season, our supposed ‘golden era’ recently, we had a play-off run, Manchester games, played great football etc. Coventry were in League Two, hadn’t got a pot to piss in and on the verge of getting kicked out of their ground again.

All the hyperbole from then onwards over being a ‘Premier League club in training’, sacking Lee Johnson to get someone to ‘take us to the next level’, opening the ‘High Performance Centre’ with supposed world class facilities, napping pods and all the rest of it.

Despite all that, fast forward 3/4 years later Coventry, whilst down to 10 men, absolutely batter us, with a clear identity of play and players with unbelievable belief and determination,  in a league game to send us 19th in the championship, and them up to 4th.

If anything can illustrate how very badly the club have got things wrong on & off the pitch over the past 2/3 seasons, today underlines it. Should be some senior people at the club today feeling very embarrassed.

Even Blackpool ffs are moving back ahead of us as a club. And look what a basket case they have been.

Firstly Chris Martin needs a rest as he’s not contributing and has looked knackered the last 2 games.
There’s  a few short-term options to replace him  (Wells or Weimann and hopefully Conway and Semenyo soon).
Secondly we need some width. In the short term play O’Dowda but look to get in a winger in January. Barnsley had a decent left winger on Saturday.

Need leaders on the pitch. I don’t see or hear anyone encouraging or advising out there.
Get Williams back in the team when he’s ready. That will help .
Most importantly need to do whatever is required to buy a forward, a winger and holding midfield player. If that means selling Bentley so be it. Ideally Brownhill will be sold by Burnley for big bucks and allow us to use the ‘sell-on’ money.

Whilst I agree that Martin does need a rest, the issue then is who does his job at defending set pieces? He has take on the Famara role at defending set pieces. He wins so many headers in our own area.

I would like to see wells centrally with weimann and palmer around him ,

massengo , James, Williams when fit to try a assert midfield

back 4 of Dasilva, Atkinson (who has been quite poor in so games & gets off lightly on here imo) kalas and tanner

Pring over Dasilva for me. Dasilva is so overated.

4 months in charge? Bonkers club.

Bet he wishes he never left Wolves!

Was never going to end well when he was something like 6th choice. Levy can't be a very easy person to work for if multiple out of work managers turned the post down

  8. Villa currently trailing at half time 2-1. Hoping the hammers hold on, villa fans not currently very happy with Dean Smith, just 3 points above bottom 3. If they don't pick up soon think he will be gone. Shakespeare will most likely be available then. Put the band back together ?

Nigel Pearson says there are places up for grabs for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match against Barnsley at Ashton Gate (Saturday, October 30th, 3pm).

The Robins head into the game against the Tykes looking to bounce back from the defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

Manager Pearson will be without Nathan Baker, still recovering after leaving the Hawthorns pitch when he felt unwell, while Tommy Conway, Andy King, Antoine Semenyo and Joe Williams are still unavailable.

Conway, Semenyo and Williams will be back on the grass running next week but King will be out until December at the earliest following hamstring surgery.

“Talk is cheap and we just have to get on with it. The players understand the importance of winning against Barnsley. When people miss out there are opportunities somewhere else. There may be some surprises in terms of selection but we’ll have to wait and see,” said Pearson.

“These can be very important moments in time. If you come out the other end of a difficult spell then there are a lot more positives to come out of it.”

I'm guessing more step ups from the Academy?

I would imagine that Scott will be back in the team. Benarous likely to be in squad imo.
