Remember RG standing up at the Fan’s Forum and saying how good it was.

    It wasn’t.

    Back to something simple.

What was there before was perfect from a fan perspective, though I doubt from a business one.

Police will likely throw a spanner in the works and request another game is moved for reasons that won't be clearly communicated.

Possibly, but you would have thought the two high risk games would also be ones Sky would show.

Elephant in the room of course is having to move games for the rugby also…

The fact is that, as much as people moan, the club know that most will suck it up and renew, including some who are currently very vocal about not doing so. Same as it is every year. Though I do wonder how many new ones they'll sell.

Tinnion being on the promo is just weird though, it would be even if he was currently unversally popular. And it'd be even weirder if Manning wasn't.

You are right, we do hear it every year. Though I do feel as though we’ve gone past a tipping point recently in some regards.

TV deal makes it a non- starter for me. Which is fine, and I don’t blame clubs for signing it off as it’s worth a lot of money to them.

The funny thing is, is that nobody would have been any the wiser if Brian hadn’t have gone on the radio this evening about the Youth Cup! Now everyone’s an expert on the under 18s and it’s tarnished the whole thing with the supports by the sounds of it.

I know we are enjoying hitting the club at the moment, but who would honestly make that difference in the first team from the under 18s at the moment? Literally nobody was up in arms like this before last night that we weren’t playing 17 and 18 year olds or having them sit on the bench for the “experience”.

There’s been a lot of comment on not filling the bench. Not a good start.

Just playing devils advocate here more than anything, but as the under 18s have progressed through the tournament, don’t you think it makes sense to give them that experience as a group / teams mates moving forward keeping them all together and build that bond. Surely that only helps us? So you can’t just take negatives from it when you look at a bigger picture and the future.

Fair play, that is a level of mental gymnastics I could only aspire to.

I’d have gone with “we want to foster a winning culture across all age groups”. And I’d be well on board that mentality.

I don’t think this would even be an issue if the results hadn’t been slightly different. Some of the 18s are and have been involved in the first team training. So are we just upset because some aren’t on the bench?

That’s not the scenario we’re in though, against the backdrop of “expect lots of youth players in the first team squad” (paraphrase)

If so, which ones from the 18s would you have had, because I haven’t heard any alls for them until now.

Theres been a few, and I’ll stay in my lane here because I couldn’t name a single one

Again, just playing devils advocate here before abuse starts.

Oh come on now, that’s incredibly disingenuous.

I’m irritated that we’ve seemingly ripped up a long term model for a short term whim.  Others above have put it far better in that regard.

Just listened to the start again.

"Steve and Jon decided they wanted a good run in the u-18 youth Cup this season"

So, as a result, Brian explained:

    1) It's part of the reason why we can't fill a full bench for the first team; and

    2) U-18s are deliberately being held back from progressing into the u-21s so that we can do well in the youth Cup.

So we are sabotaging the first team, u-21s and development of u-18s because on a whim Steve and Jon decided they wanted a good cup run for the u-18s?

I think this is up there with one of the most absurd things I've ever heard come out of the club.

I’m hoping it’s all part of the plan to make the club more marketable.

”Our under18s won the youth cup, loads of gems to turn into real value for your investment”

Because if it’s just because they just wanted to win an u18s trophy in isolation, that’s the most bonkers thing I’ve ever heard.

And there’s the problem! All the teams are similarly coached, so negate each other. The games got boring with every team trying to play out from the back/ false 9s , etc. What would happen if we played 442, with big bloke/ little bloke up front, and got the ball forward quicker? I’m pretty sure it would be more entertaining and more goalmouth action!

At the end of the day, the whole point of the game has been the same for 160 years. To score more goals than the other team! Does it really matter how you do it?

That’ll come back. Everything in life seems to be circular- just like how wing backs are suddenly the thing again.

But thats the problem, the reality is no matter what he said those on here who are against BT / LM / JL /SL, will find fault and say why did he say that

I thought it was a fair interview with difficult questions at a difficult time for the club. He did not have to go on, but whatever he said is going to be twisted and taken apart on here.

How do you square away the basic factual mistakes he made?

Disclosing transfer fees ok “as he’s learning”?

I absolutely WILL find fault with what they say, because the 3 clowns running the show are taking the piss out of us.  I’ll also praise them if and when they get something right, which in my view has been a long time.

We the fans are stakeholders of the club, regardless of the din view the hierarchy have on football fans. So dam right I’ll call out this twattery. If this forum is anything, it’s a place to vent.

The only member of the goon show I will give a measure of patience to is the mood hoover Manning, because despite his dour demeanour he needs time to prove himself. For better or worse, we’ll see how that pans out.

Former scared poster out for revenge?

It’s SarahB who blames the forum for ruining her fairytale romance with big Stevie Brooker.

She already has TomF locked in a shed, and now she’s here for all the other OGs

  9. So what have we learned?

Promotion isn’t the aim next season, despite using that reason to sack a manager relatively early into this season.

Youth football takes priority over the first team.

30 years working for a company (we’ll gloss over being sacked once) entitles you to a seat on the board.

“Undisclosed fee” is a subjective term.

    Edit

Missed “a couple of new signings” in the summer, as mentioned by @Lew - T

Yeah I think the BS sport attempt at nudging the narrative has ****** off now, certainly since end of October.

What we have now is some good old fashioned trolling.  Tragic stuff really.
