Well lets look at the top 10 of who's available that's any good.

1 Steve Cotterill

2 erm

3 um

4 maybe

5 this one is debatable

6 was good ages ago

7 he retired now

8 not sure

9 will split the fans

10 unproven at this level.

So there we have the full list of those available that are any good and want to come to a team 3rd from bottom in the third tier of english football. What a choice we have got.

So lets slag off the bloke that has yet to be announced as manager and has a record here of played none won none drew none and lost none. ******* fantastic lot we have here.

2nd from bottom.

I guess all those idiots who suggested it couldn't get any worse are happy now.

How could it get much worse? We're second from bottom and have won just two league games this season.

Anyone who has detected much sign of improvement during the SOD era should take their rose-coloured specs off.

The defence is much tighter than last season, but we're facing L1 attackers now - and have offloaded Mr Wobbly, the falling over specialist.(someone SOD kept far too long and suggested he only loaned out because of fan pressure). Up the other end of the field, we offer as much threat as a semolina pudding however. The SOD team that played yesterday - yes I know he wasn't there, but it was as if he was - had two shots on target in 90 minutes.

Ive not stepped foot in Ashton Gate since September as have been training, however I have not missed it one bit. In fact, ive become so detached from this club I didnt even know we had a game the night we played Crawley. I very rarely even post on here now.

This is all down to the way this piss poor board has literally sucked all the passion out of me. Been a season ticket holder for 18 of my 32 years....and ive finally got to the point where I find myself not.caring. I never thought I would say that.

This next appointment is massive.....and if its Cotterill....I cant.see myself bothering any more after my training is done. Cotterill will be a god awful appointment....everyone knows it.

Do this....and I for one will never forgive the.board

If Watford keep losing then Gianfranco Zola will be available soon

And he's really going to be interested in a job for a team in the bottom two of the third division, isn't he?

He probably doesn't even know where Bristol is.

Yeah, almost certainly wishful thinking!

Although there is a Harvey Nichols in town and we all know the Italians like their clobber.

Clutching at straws?

Im pretty much the same.

I have an ST but dont go that often these days, mainly due to the mess that is BCFC. Having a young family means I need to be able to justify the time attending games means my misses is left looking after the kids and with the crap football i just cant.

If City appoint SC, that will be the end of it for me and I will just find something to do with the kids. I am already enjoying living on the sofa on a Saturday and relaxing.

Is all the Cotterill hating based on long ball football?? Where's this actually come from?

I think he'll be a good appointment.

Chelt - 2 promotions on no money.

Stoke - solid start then got stitched up going to Sunderland.

Notts county - won numourous manager of the months in difficult circumstances (didn't they go into admin after the sol Campbell thing?).

Portsmouth - did a good job stabilising them with no money, and look at where they are now.

Forest - kept them up after mcclaren nearly sent them down, and only got sacked because of the new owners.

I wanted him when we needed to replace Millen, and think he'll do a good job. Got relegation dog fight and promotion push experience. And forest didn't play long ball football, do doubt he'd play it with out squad.

It depends how you sell it. If you "tell it like it is," you've got no chance. If you dig out your old Joe Dolce 45 and use a bit of imagination, oodles of charm and lashings of BS, plus a quick pizza in that tiny Eye-tie place on Park Row, you might be in with a shout. I took Big Joe for a deep fried Mar Bar down Bedme somewhere and told him about our "potential," how "big" we were, and that we had "the best ground in the third division." And that we had money to spend! He fell for it! Before pissing off tae Hearts, the basteward...

So the misses still has to look after the kids on a saturday anyway? ;)

All this negativity... for Christ's sake, the next manager that's appointed is bound to do better than SO'D. Relax, at least our board is doing something to prevent our plummet to League 2. I swear sometimes our own fans want to see us fail.

He he I'm going to remind you of this if we go down. I think anything is possible under the current shambles. They are the cause of our current plummet. Their choices of manager and how to fund that manager have got us to this point. Can you see how they are doing anything different this time other than panic?

What else would you propose? Anything the board do to try and rectify the situation will be seen as an act of panic by our fan base. And sure, we may not have a successful second half to the season, but what can the board do other than appoint someone else over SO'D who was leading us in to a double dip.

I would suggest sticking to their pla. They must have had something in mind when they appointed sod. So much in fact that they allowed him to bring in just about a full starting lineup of new players. Now the new incumbent will start ripping that up and we are back to square one of never ending transition.

It is about time this ******* board followed through on their claims. Instead of lurching from one balls up to another

I think it's not so much about negativity, it's more about concern..

Especially if we employ a guy who turned to SOD for help...?

I'll go with SC or anyone the Board puts forward as long as they think results are important, make the players do hard physical training buys in some leaders and players willing to put their foot in with a physical presence. If the team plays the occasional hoof ball to a busy hard man centre forward that's fine with me better that than watching the ball pinging sideways and backwards amongst our defenders.

I might be a bit old school but the calibre of player needed to play the continental style is way beyond our means with FFP in practice. I think a change in style needs to be a slow evolution via a revamped Academy rather than a revolution using Championship/league 1 rejects.

Interesting link that makes me think this could be an excellent appointment at this time. Cotterill has a burning desire to manage in the Premier League and his best chance will be doing it by making a success at City.

http://seatpitch.co.uk/2012/04/07/steve-cotterill-credit-where-credits-due/

I'd be very disappointed if Cotterill was appointed, I'd take him over Di Canio and Holloway, but that really isn't much of an endorsement.

Having read article he (Cotterill) is promoted as someone who can identify frailties and work on a budget. Yet it also states, taking those two things as a pair, that they saw an upturn in performances when he was allowed to bring in some players. I'm not sure he'll be granted that luxury here, and it in itself is a contradiction - he works well on a budget but only after he signs new players . .

It is also notable how the writer gives great credit to O'Driscoll, stating 'I dare say I spied Forest playing more risky triangular football amongst some of long ball stuff' when discussing the impact he had on the team.

If Di Canio or Holloway came in I'd be pretty disgusted, for differing reasons. Cotterill is uninspiring and screams short term appointment. The cupboard is outrageously bare, the betting list could push Mr Happy onto Prozac. For me Tisdale seems the only bit of light, Id fall over myself for Zola but he won't drop, Mowbray is worth an interview if nothing else.

Meh . .

Mowbray is a top shout. Done well everywhere apart from boro, where he may have had too much vested interest being a fan. Has to be worth a call. Probably say no. But if you don't ask you don't get.

Steve Cotterill is not exactly a big name and I am not buzzing with excitement at the prospect of him being appointed. But then I wasn't that thrilled about SOD coming here either unlike so many who seem to think they can judge a new manager before he's even taken charge.

One thing's clear he would have to be truly shocking to be worst than SOD.

Under him we moved almost seamlessly from Del's uninspiring football, to a new 5 pillars of boredom. Or was that 5 sideways passes at the back and punt it forward.

Until whoever is appointed starts to have an impact on the way the team is set up and plays, it seems to me foolhardy to prejudge how things will be.

You never know we might start to win a few and pick up some points.
