Dwight Gayle-Bid Accepted (Merged, And Merged Again And Again)

Not one to dampen the enthusiasm on this but as this has been leaked to the media, it concerns me of agents buggering about again driving up a fee and wages for his client. We seem to do our business on the quiet and announcing signings as and when they happen. Be delighted if he signs but wouldn't be surprised if Mr Gayle ends up elsewhere on this basis.

Exactly fella... Deal excepted, then Agent gets on the phone and tells the media, so as to alert other clubs and get a bigger fee. It's the horrible nature of football i'm afraid. But who can blame them with so much money floating around the Prem.

Brentford's market is in Northern Europe these days, look at their summer arrivals and departures...

Lolz, not trying to start a geographical mass-debate, but aren't we in Northern Europe?

Though, to properly respond, I'd say that the Euro plummet has allowed quite a few teams (especially our league) to buy from abroad.

I'd very much doubt they're ignoring targets from English football.

Long way to go till' it's done of course but if this happens, when Kodjia is into the groove - him and Gayle will be a seriously quick and exciting front two.

Tend to think if we got him it will be Wilbs & Gayle, certainly initially

Think Wilbs would be the best help for Gayle , and they will have played together at Palace reserves a fair bit ( getting Gayle the best service has to be the plan) and it would allow JK to adjust to the training, club, new country and generally to find his feet

Imagine a 2.1m striker on the bench at lil old Ashton Gate !!!!

I reckon so to begin with, but think eventually Kodjia will start with Gayle if this happened. I imagine Wilbraham will have another injury and doubt he can play Sat/Tues throughout the season.

Dwight Gayle has split opinions with Palace Fans

He has scored goals from the bench but then when given the chance to start just hasnt impressed.

If you play him upfront in a 442 he would score loads and be terrific but as lone striker he doesnt play the role well, even for a small man.

Pardew tried him out on the wing a bit last season when Bolasie was away and he was ok-ish

Really he is a specialist striker as a said before needs to play in a 442

I think we are going to get a big value striker, but now its gone public, I think it is highly unlikely to be Gayle....................

I am pretty sure Burt starts all deal talks by stating "if this goes public, we pull out".. not ITK, but in Burt I trust and once its public a "back water club"... like ours is going to struggle..

Thanks for that, we tend to play 5-3-2 with attacking wing-backs. At times it's a 3-5-2 depending on the circumstances. Unless we change formation, he'll be in a front 2.

He will probably start with Aaron Wilbraham who you know all about.

Which strike partner at Palace has he played best with?

This reminds me of the time we signed Scott Partridge on a free-transfer from Bradford.

I'm not keen on waiving the Bolasie sell on - surely Palace would only do that if they knew it would get them out of owing us more.

Or a 3-5-2 ?

Don't think so. We just try and keep it quiet. It would be ridiculous to pull out on any deal if it went to press! Whatever would we do if we became established premier league and the rumours increase tenfold!

I'd save your bandwidth till this actually happens. A massive long shot at the moment.
