It's subjective: I'd still argue that he's been consistently one of if not our best player over the 5 years he's been with us and that represents good value. I'd agree that the last 18 months when he was injured didn't, but that's nothing to do with his ability. But more to the point, your original comment wasn't about hindsight - you said that the £8m was "crazy money" at the time we bought him. I don't think that was the case. Pre covid that's what a half decent championship defender went for. I stand by what i said about crazy money. 8 million was too much and half decent championship defenders you could pick up for far less money.
