The Injured List

Scott was in the wars today (as ever, it’s the only way opponents can think of to stop him), but hopefully his substitution was tactical/precautionary. So nice to see Kalas back getting the odd minutes. We are flying. ?⚪

Think he was also being saved from the risk of a yellow card too.  Williams catching him up, now got 8 (Scott on 9) league yellows.

D'you know I never realised it was a 2 game ban for 10 yellows. Assumed it was just another one. On paper, maybe Alex would be best served getting yellow #10 against Hull, as we have a couple of 'easier' games after that. Of course, this is the Championship, so logic rarely flies.

In fairness until a few weeks ago I’d mistyped it as 1 on the chart, so I may be responsible!

According to press interview today, Nige said Joe Williams on 9 yellows.  I only have him on 8, Transfermarkt have 7, Wyscout 8.

??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️

Edit: looks like he might’ve got one after the match v Preston (h).  Seeing if I can find out.

No new ins or outs going by the Matchday 18 - but as mentioned above I think we can expect to see Wilson for the first team before too long. Big game tonight, hoping for 10 unbeaten and 3 more points ??⚪️ COYR ?⚪

I can only assume we’re saving our luck for Man City but I’m sure we’ll be cursed that night too! Saveable Fletcher effort prior to us hitting the woodwork twice, irritating draw. It was fun being play-off chasers for 4 days ?

Think all subs tonight were tactical.

BRIEFLY stepping away from the jubilation of our first penalty since the Titanic sank, Atkinson’s injury today looked a little worrying didn’t it. Vyner was in the wars too. We’re light at centre half without injuries so a bit concerning. But that can wait for another time - we got a penalty ? unbelievable. Feels like a win.

Atkinson ACL confirmed.

Naismith back around the International break

Wilson building up

Conway back on the grass - with first team for some bits, on his own for other bits - ahead of Naismith

Had hoped sooner for Naismith - was praying for the Man City game but clearly that was very optimistic. We have what we have, let’s see what happens. Up the City.

Kalas takes Atkinson’s place in the XI, and Omar Taylor Clarke comes in to the vacated spot on the bench. Crap news regarding Atkinson’s ACL - he was playing very well. All the best big man!

Big win today, I thought we were very good to a man. Credit to them all. Isn’t it an easier sport when referees allow you penalties?!

The Tanner -> Cornick sub was a little odd I thought, don’t think GT had an issue though? We’ll assume not for now.

I do wonder if Wilson might be added to the 20 on Tuesday?  In fact we may not even name 20!

Be nice to see him in the squad. We could make up the other number with an academy lad - hell of a Matchday experience for them!

Take the 16 from today, add Francois, O.Thomas, that’s 18.  As you say Wilson makes 19, Kane - bring a plus 1 ?

You’ve lost me Dave. We named 18 today - so it’s only another 2 no?

Not really.

Take out Cornick and Mehmet, both cup-tied, and we are back to 16.

I must say though, @Davefevs, surely a 'youth' team player could be invited to join the bench if need be. A shame that S-PH has been sent out on loan to Yeovil - I do understand that this move will probably be better for his development, rather that just sitting on the bench Tuesday evening.

Ah course - forgot about the cup-tied duo. Was chatting to some people about that today, the silver lining to it is that Bell deserves his start on the left. FA Cup has been his competition this season.

Any chance Conway can make the bench?

Just listening to Nige’s press conference, suggests he will have 4 academy lads on the bench (who we won’t have really seen), and that won’t be Tommy.

If we take the eleven likely starters (8 from Saturday plus Sykes / Wells / Bell as the forward line) that leaves subs as:

  • Haikin
  • Dasilva
  • King
  • Weimann
  • Taylor-Clarke - I think Nige might be including him as one of the 4!

I’m assuming Olly Thomas and Marlee Francois will be two.

So I reckon it will be Morrison plus Wilson / Leeson.

Some teasers in here to keep the guessing game going!

I see Conway  involved, I wonder how close he is as I've not noticed any updates for him . Too early for the bench tonight, but I wonder how far away he is. It will make the bench for League games competitive.

The two cup tied lads are of course absent tonight which is a shame. The 4 vacant places are taken up by the returning Kane Wilson, and youngsters Morrison, Thomas and Francois. Taylor-Clarke keeps his spot on the bench too.

Well, here we go then. COYR. ?⚪

Struggled to follow today due to a wedding but disappointing scoreline. Think we can say with some confidence our season is over - let’s just enjoy the last 12 and build for next. I think we can do big things next year.

Was Williams the only injury? As I say - I couldn’t watch.

A point with a side as patched up as ours was today is really no bad thing. Back 4 and Max get pats on the back, kept that sheet clean. 13 points clear of the drop - big push next season. ?

James a doubt for Blackpool game….Pearson said: "Matty James will be a concern for the weekend just because of a problem he picked up with his ankle from a challenge in the first half. But he managed to play the full game which is a credit to him."

Hopefully with James failing a late test he might be in contention for Wednesday…otherwise the extra day helps Kingy’s recovery.

If King plays anything like today no need to rush James back! Luton a very different prospect though of course.

A tough game and it showed.

No new injuries I’m aware of. On that note - with very little to play for I think it’d be smart not to bring anyone injured back in for Swansea - give them the extra two weeks for the international break. Bring them back in a way that keeps them back.

Francois loses his bench spot, Idehen and Wood both take a place on the bench as we name a full complement of 7 subs. Some interesting alterations to the team, including a start for OTC - best of luck Omar ?⚪️.

Not a great afternoon that. It was a penalty at 1-0 though.

OTC picks up a knock. Could Sykes be in retrospective trouble for his little kick out? Not enough in it surely. Plus he was given the yellow so it was ‘seen’.

International break at an ok time, then we wrap this season up. One more win takes us above the 50 mark.

One last thing, nice to see Wilson back on the pitch.

30/3 Nigel Pearson has confirmed Alex Scott suffered a minor knee ligament injury on international duty, ruling him out of this weekend's game against Reading at Ashton Gate, while being unable to provide a timescale on the teenager's return.

Scott (injured), Haikin (gone), Sykes (suspension), Idehen (dropped?) are replaced by James (injury return), Conway (ditto), Wiles-Richards and Leeson in the MD18. Nice to get some players back, Scott is a blow of course. Let hope it puts off the bidders… ?

Points dropped from a winning position and a key injury. We’re back baby!

Hard not to be frustrated by that, we wasted enough good moments to beat them two or three times. And I really don’t like the look of the James injury, clearly held his hammy. ☹️

I bumped into Scotty M when picking up my Stoke tickets at the ground earlier - made sure the Matty James injury was cramp which he confirmed ? such a friendly bloke, I wouldn’t bother most club employees but he seems to genuinely not mind a chat.

Phenomenal result Saturday, celebrating those two goals in that away end was an absolute delight. Zak Vyner is some man.

I’m not even too mad about the injuries which makes a change, it seemed to me all three subs had an injury question mark to them? OTC seemed to take a knock as did Bell, and Conway was withdrawn very suddenly too I thought. We‘ll assume just cramp or something for now and see if the three are back in the 18 tomorrow. Well in City and congrats Anis on your first of many ?⚪❤️

Conway took a nasty one, but Nige confirmed that he was fine to carry on until h/t, when he’d planned to take him off anyway.

OTC bit precautionary but they needed to assess.

Makes sense. No need to risk anyone this season now if there`s the slightest doubt.
