I would go for Newport (a) followed by Fulham (h) the following week in early 1982. Both draws but what happened in between meant both were very emotional affairs.

I guess if my son/daughter played for the Gas at some level I’d go and watch them but would never become a fan of the club. I must admit, unlike the 80s 90s when I’d know every player, I couldn’t name you more than 2 players at Rovers nowadays.

St a Mary’s in a couple of weeks will be the 58th ground I’ve watched City play at. Probably near a 100 if you add the other grounds I’ve watched football not involving City, quite a few abroad including 8 in France. As someone else mentioned, it’s getting harder to watch City at new grounds as we spend so many years in the same division and nearly 40 years now in the same 2 divisions. I didn’t do any new last season but Leicester and Southampton are both new grounds, but not new clubs, this season.

Besides his body language, which will improve as he gets to know those interviewing him, I thought it was ok. He couldn't make out it was a huge success or a dreadful day. He touched on what they did well and what they'll be working on. Not a whole lot more he could have said really.

Got to sort out either our passing into the box or movement in the box, probably both. -

Better last 10 minutes but our final ball into the box has been poor -

Substitutions will be interesting. Cornick, TGH, Bell and Kal will all be chomping at the bit and could make difference -

Not quite the front footed, attacking play that was talked about…….yet. But early days and QPR are playing like they’ve got a new man in charge too, so stalemate. -
Did you have your VPN on when you tried to buy video? It will only offer audio if you’re in the UK

What did Mrs 1960 think of Heaven 17 and did they play any songs that were catchy enough to turn into football songs? I met Glen Gregory in a pub once, a long time ago when we both had hair, now I’m trying to think of a players name that could replace “Temptation”

Liam Manning first 5 games- hopes and expectations?
ralphindevon replied to Mr Popodopolous's topic in Football Chat
Depends how many days off they get during the international break I've put 8, hoping for 9 plus but would take 8 -

50-1 1st goal or 22-1 any time with Skybet. Good shout. I can't be the only one who's backed Mehmeti, he's joint favourite with Weimann, not the money maker I had in mind -

Yes I think the cup game was Massengo’s debut. I was thinking of putting a bob or two on Mehmeti scoring, not just the new manager thing but I think Nige was beginning to look to him for a bigger role in the coming months. -

I hadn’t realised we’d won 5 in a row there, even though I was at a few of them. There and Stoke really are happy hunting grounds, long May it continue. -
When I was young I loved the Italian football shirt, what a beautiful blue! Blue and white quarters are easily the worst thing you could put on a shirt, even Blackburn’s halves are hard work.

Training session - perhaps TC didn’t get the memo
ralphindevon replied to Jerseybean's topic in Football Chat
When I saw the boss wearing gloves at a training session when it wasn’t even cold yet, I was all ready to tear up my season card, or whatever one does with a digital version. Anyway, he took them off so promotion here we come. -

The best things Liam Manning didn't say
ralphindevon replied to Marina's Rolls Royce's topic in Football Chat
Agree, way too early to judge him on interviews. Especially the one where he addressed the players, to have to do that with a camera in the room would have been hard for a seasoned campaigner. -
Incredible! Imagine that nowadays.

Yes those two stand out. Thinking back to the day they were announced, I was thrilled when Coppell joined and underwhelmed when Cotterill joined, so no good asking me to predict what’s coming up!

I make that my 23rd appointed full time, not caretaker/interim manager as an attending City fan. If you started supporting City between Oct 1967 and September 1980 you’ll have the same number as me, such was the longevity of Alan Dicks. The first man on that list took us to the top, good luck Liam, here’s hoping you become the next.

That’s one job he’d improve at least. In charge of hospitality might work too.
