I agree the bloke was an idiot, but he never even left the stands. Unless he had a 20ft long prosthetic leg, his 'kick' gesture was never going to reach Ramsdale.

What amused me was Ramsdale looked like he was going to cry because the nasty men said nasty things. These things do work both ways. Be professional, stay classy in victory.  Can you imagine a City player going up to the Atyeo after Saturday's full-time?

In fairness Ramsdale is in goal, so he's already at that end, he didn't do a Adebayor and run the length of the pitch.  I think fans get very over sensitive and judgy when a player does something (boo hoo) and for me the fans need to take it as what it is, not get all upset about it, show some maturity and see it for what it is

Didn't Deeney goads the South Stand/Singing Section Saturday after his penalty?

Fortunately we responded correctly ie with the appropriate chanting and no more but Austin last season also springs to mind- on level this sort of thing while part of the game can be a low level of incitement?

I've got no issue with players interacting with the crowd after a goal or whatever, it's part of the theatre for me, I didn't think what Troy Deeney did after the pen can be classed as goading.

However, the real issue is stupid football fans who can't deal with the so called goading or losing a game or whatever it may be and feel they have no option but to attack a player or run on the pitch or confront them outside the ground, as happened with Everton.  These people are idiots and are the real problem, not Ramsdale kissing his badge after the game etc, any sensible person would be able to laugh that off or ignore it

But the key point is that there's no sense of direction, impetus or momentum. And in recent seasons, its been nodding terms from a very long distance.

You are treading water. Your Lansdown life jacket will keep you afloat, but won't take you any further to where you want to go.  And what if it deflates?

Under Higgs, the Rovers were in the Conference. Under Wael, they are 8th in L1.

I'd argue we are at our natural level in the championship, you might say it's treading water, but as we all know parachute payments have made it very difficult to compete, so you need to spend a lot of ££££ to just stay afloat at this level, which is what we have done.  Rovers fans may scoff that SL has wasted millions and we haven't got anywhere, but some of the problems are that he spent loads before we had the infrastructure in place, then when we finally did have the decent ground etc he gave the ££££ to Ashton who didn't spend it wisely.

If Rovers get promoted without improving the infrastructure then they will go back down, it's as simple as that.  They won't be able to generate the income required to compete. If Wael tries to compete then this will mean actually spending some of his supposed fortune for the first time, as he won't generate anything from match day revenue, and the academy isn't at the level required to find top players and sell them on, and that's when the problems will really start, as to get the decent players into a club which on paper is probably punching above their weight, especially in terms of stadium and training facilities, you need to pay top ££££ and then you will have players on big contracts you can't afford when you go down etc etc etc and you end up screwed financially.

Obviously the great thing about being a football supporter is the dream to play at the highest level, but these days that dream requires loads of £££££ to stand any chance.

No they don't, as always go in for a half time pint, but what is very annoying, is they could do with a live stream from the pitch, so you can see when the players are coming back out, particularly if teh queue has moved slowly.

They I should get the landlord to ring a bell when the players come out!  At all the pubs around the Houses of Parliament, they have a buzzer that goes off to alert the MP's to get to the chambers to vote

Maybe if the prices were reasonable and you were not looking at over £100 a month on subscriptions to Sky, BT and Amazon for Sport then people wouldn't turn to illegal streams.

    Sky are absolutely greedy *****

Nobody is forcing anyone to pay for sky, if you don't want to pay it or can't afford it then don't, if more people did this and Sky lost a load of customers because of it then the price would go down (as would the wages to footballers)

Can confirm the tickets today are hand drawn. It’s unlike anything experienced ever even in non league. It’s like you’re carrying a prescription from a doctor to the steward. I estimate all fans will be in their seats by about 14.30 on Tuesday.

    This will work won't it?

Quite a New Year hangover that!

After 6 months of no sleep with daughter no 2 I can't think anymore!  Are we saying Bre-entry rather than Br-exit?  Is that it?  Surely the thread should have been something like Nigel Pearsout/in or something?  The red herring for me is Brentry near Southmead, I'm thinking what has Brentry got to do with anything!  I've been up since 4 forgive me!

Remember that game at Leeds a few years ago under LJ, we were 2-0 up and cruising, then their crowd decided that they'd had enough of giving their players stick and started to get right behind them and created a raucous atmosphere for the last half hour or so.

Sure enough, the players responded and salvaged a draw. Nobody who saw that would say that the crowd didn't have a big impact on things that day.

We had the same at home to Leeds thought under SC, the Lansdown stand hadn't been built, the Leeds fans were singing "there's only one Uwe Rosler" at 2-0 up then we scored 2 late on (both from Flint??) and I think Uwe was sacked a few weeks later!  Atmosphere was great!  Always stay until the end!

Fear of who might replace him though is a poor reason to stick with NP.  You have to take that leap sometimes and be brave. If I hadn't,  I'd still be stuck doing a job I'd grown to hate, with a miserable marriage and living somewhere I'd fallen out of love with.

Let's hope we don't get a Boris Johnson to Liz Truss situation if we do sack him! ??

Although it's ludicrous to suggest all pro-Pearson votes are Gasheads; it's equally insulting to suggest that those wanting him gone think so because of social media.

I'd reluctantly come to the conclusion that he has to go, after a long, mostly silent car journey back from Monday's game. It wasn't until I came on here that I realised that lots of my fellow fans were having the same thoughts.

Agreed, I don't need social media to tell me how poor results and performances have been!  Don't forget when NP joined on a short term deal the results were awful and we still gave him a contract!  What was the point of the trial run if the results are bad but you still get the job?  Nothing has really improved since then.

I'm gutted as I thought he was the right man (and I wanted him when LJ was hired which would have been perfect timing) but you can't be only winning 30% of your games, have a terrible home record for your whole tenure, and keep your job

I tend to agree, and I think he should be doing better. That doesn't mean I think it's fair to compare the squad 1:1 with Lee's though!

I think it's a lot easier to do that stuff you mention of you have more ability to change the people as well though - not wholesale, a manager can't expect a new squad at every club obviously, but there's a balance.

Maybe not fair to compare but LJ also had the Crown Jewels sold every summer to contend with, interesting debate

  11. 28 minutes ago, IAmNick said:

The longer a manager is at a club, and the more of the squad that is his, the better they should be doing.

The fact is that Lee had a remit to reformat the squad exactly as he wanted (a few times over) so I'd absolutely expect him to be doing as well or better than Pearson with a similar squad.

They were and are his players. The fit the formation he liked, the tactics he liked, behaved how he liked, trained how he liked, they were his. You'd absolutely expect him to be doing well with them.

Pearson doesn't have that luxury. He's mashing together someone else's players, academy kids, and some scraps of free or low fee players. Now that's obviously the lot of a lot of managers at the moment - but it also means it's not a fair comparison in my opinion.

So doesn't that suggest that in two years, NP has not been able to change the culture, attitude, tactics, training etc etc in anyway whatsoever to improve results by just using his experience, man management skills, tactical brain?  If yes then that's pretty poor management in my book.  Whatever players you inherit, what ever business you can or cannot do, after 2 years I would expect improvements on the pitch surely?  If not by now then when?
