I said at the start of the season. Meaning not looking at the table now, but at the start of the season I suspect most fans would have expected 2 wins and 3 draws, or 3 wins from the next six. Right now, I would struggle to see us winning any of them.

I can’t see many points this week, Preston we always struggle against, ideally we would have played them when the fixture was originally due to be played as we were in form them and playing with confidence. Milwall, Rowett will set them up to expose our weakness and in the recent past has been quite successful at doing so. Can’t see either game being pretty on the eye , and if we’re to get anything we’ll going to have to fight and battle for every ball and deal with crosses better than we did Saturday

What you point out there is that in our good run, we were gradually improving availability, so that we had a collective competitiveness.  Semenyo was back, James returned, and we then had options, players fighting for keeping their place, others trying to get in.  But in the back of our minds we knew that if we lose a couple of key players then we look frail / frailer again.

Despite defeats at Norwich (where we could’ve won w/o Pukki’s lethal finishing) and Burnley (more defensive), with our “best” (ish) 18 keeping each other on their toes we looked good value for where we were.  But it was always gonna be tough to maintain, almost flukey to avoid injuries and suspensions for long enough.

We lost James, then Naismith. Suspensions too.

It highlights the lack of depth of true quality.  Up top is the only positions two players missing wouldn’t leave us looking frail.

Thats why I don’t take any win for granted and probably the same with a draw too.

In terms of “Pearson Out” it’s a pretty easy shout if you look totally at results.  There will also be a reason to frame sacking the manager, a few winless games, conceding crap goals, etc…if you’ve gone all-in on that viewpoint. But there is a much bigger picture at play here, and that directly influences the strength and depth of squad we’ve got at Nige’s disposal…and that’s the finances.

Ill happily bet that if we can get James, Naismith and Kalas back, possibly Klose too for the vast majority of games, we will play more like we did in our 8 game unbeaten run than we have in the latest 5 game winless run.   Not all of the 8 during the unbeaten run were great, just like not all of the winless 5 were shit too.

A change of manager doesn’t change the resources available.  And it will cost us to get rid and replace.  I’m not saying that is a reason not to, but I’m pointing at patience…because there are no guarantees the replacement is better and can get more out of the group.  Plus how attractive are we.  To see a thread with Chris Wilder’s name is fantasy land.  If we are shopping for free transfers for players, where do people think we are shopping for managers?

We’ve spoken about this before and our views are aligned. If the answer is to remove Pearson who do you replace him with ?  We have no funds to sack a manager. We’re shopping in the lower leagues and feee transfers yet people expect us to bring in premier league loans with finances we simply can’t afford, for me demonstrating a complete lack of  financial matters as demonstrated by the statement that if Gould left we could ask for £800k compensation, a complete lack of understanding of employment matters. Unfortunately, we next play Preston and Millwall , I’d be surprised if the negativity finishes by the end of the week and calls for Pearson to be sacked will be louder

10 games done, and Norwich and Burnley away done which are gonna be two of the hardest games of the season.

I’ve seen enough to think we’re in for a genuine play offs push this season.

Agree , two tough games this week. We deserved at least a draw on Wednesday at least, today beaten by a better side but two tough games out of the way. With this side we could be top six contenders , need to cut out the mistakes at the back , let’s not forget our last three home games we’ve won all three without conceding

Naismith's mistakes aside this was a confident, energetic performance, where City dominated long periods of play and scored the game's best goal from Conway.

Listen in - we're loving the transformation and oozing with positivity!

And City are the top scorers in the Championship!!

    Football. Bloody hell!

Ian, Mark, Neil and DaveP review a game which, although City lost, saw a performance that bodes well for the rest of the season and at the very least a top half finish.

Kal Naismith was guilty of two fundamental errors in the first 20 minutes which meant City were left with a mountain to climb. They were not shocked into submission by the early setbacks and played with a purpose fully deserving of another Conway goal which reduced the deficit before the break.

City dominated the early stages of the 2nd half but totally against the run of play a poorly defended goal just past the hour put the home side two goals clear. But City came back again with a goal from super-sub Semenyo which had it not gone in would surely have seen referee Webb give City a penalty after Williams had been scythed down in the box.

Couple of other points - we should have had a pen in the first half when Hanley bundled Sykes to the ground plus Andi of the bleached hair, he's been a bit quiet of late.... must be due a goal soon.

PS for those who say we love being negative for the sake of it give this a listen to see how wrong you are and I think we've finally sorted the sound out!

Morning guys , just been catching up on the Pod. You guys get a lot of criticism some justified, some over the top. The pod is much improved from a sound basis and the views more constructive without knee jerk comments (obviously results help!!). It’s taken Pearson time to turn it around, I always believed he would and as I’ve commented before I believe one of the reasons he stayed when he probably could have walked due to illness etc was because he could see the young talent we have coming through. Let’s cut the mistakes out at the back and we’re a real contention of top six and hopefully got a big decision regarding bids for our players. Great work guys, like the other pods it takes a lot of time and commitment to produce. ??

My opinion….ridiculous over-reaction to something that genuinely affects a small number of people.

It’s the wrong decision , the world is carrying on people are at work together, you can go to a pub and have a beer , a restaurant and have a meal. For me either you have national mourning and everything closes for a set period or you don’t. If you want to mourn , that’s fine and your wishes should be respected , you don’t have to go to the pub, restaurants , theatre or sport. Would completely understand if the funeral was tomorrow but it’s not.

He stayed, was retained as IMO was always likely.

January is another matter, post WC splurges on breakout stars are usually in the summer. This is a year like no other, but until then let's enjoy him and his talents. If he scores or is bright at the WC that'll increase both his exposure and his value.

January is January, let's just enjoy the excellent young talent he is right now.

Do we have a chance to keep him all season ? If we go up do we have a chance to keep him next season ?

May this season be the "one" ? That season when we go up despite no chances at the start ? Many teams did that with worse players than us today...Hull City in 2008, and Barsnley in playoff, Luton in playoffs..I mean the league is unpredictable. If we keep the good spirit, I may sound crazy but we can make it somehow. Some luck...some nice form and keeping the best players. This winter will be huge if we will be top 6.

Semenyo will go 20+ for sure, I am sure wells will be 10 goals at least. We have one of the good attacking side in this League. With Kalas comming back and Atkinson growing same as Naismith with his crazy pases...we have a decent team.

Hope we can keep Semenyo and sell him for 30+ ...that will fix our financial aspects and make us build a better team next season.

January could be really interesting , we certainly have the fire power to beat any team in the league. It’s a big if but if we’re in contention for the top six come the January will the club gamble and reject any bid for our players with the promise of if we don’t go up free to go in the summer for a set price. You can imagine the attraction of potentially being involved in a promotion may be tempting for players to stay for 4 / 5 months longer?

  7. Peoples priorities change over time, reading many comments on here it seems like most follow the same path - it becomes a big part of your life in your teens and early 20’s and then your priorities change family etc, and you go back when the kids get older.

I fear football is going to become more selective for many as we enter the end of this year and next year, as cost of living really bites for most of us. The option of paying £30 odd quid for an away ticket plus travel and general expense will put many off, the same for home games for those without a season ticket. As others have said, I’m city because I’m from Bristol and not many glory years have happened in my 42 years of life. There are easier options than supporting city

Weimann has to play, because he never stops running.

God only knows what will happen if we ask him to stop.

An event horizon could be unleashed.

    You've been warned. ?

Why risk him tomorrow he’s too important to how we play. We play seven games between now and 17 September when the season breaks for international fixtures. Wycombe are a tough physical team , we can do without an injury to weinmann.

He has to at least start the subs so Tanner and Wilson (if both can be accommodated), O’Leary, Klose, King, Pring and Martin all have to start, surely? Something like:

    O’Leary

    Tanner Klose Pring

    Wilson King Massengo Dasilva

    Martin Bell

Certainly wouldn’t play weinmann or Conway. Would like to see Wells continue. Am I right in thinking Wilson can play LWB which if the case Tanner could play RWB and Pring LCB
