  1. They aren’t going to resign are they

    But

We should be furiously demanding as a fan base that the time has come to front up

Get yourself in SOS on Monday Tinnion and answer a few pertinent questions that are bounding around in the last few weeks

Lets hear what you have to say and explain

Abd if you don’t , you will look an even bigger coward than you and ‘Jon’ looked over the NP sacking car crash

    Not holding my breath

    Lets hear from you...

    This is rubbish, isn’t it?

Depressing isn’t it Graham , really depressing

12 months or so ago I felt , and posted about how pleased and proud I was about our Club , or the playing side I should say , with a straightforward honest manager and staff who had created a buzz, clearly liked by players ,  a great squad spirit , bringing our youngsters through.... in a safe safe if unspectacular pair of hands

    To this.........

Famara - whilst not the most gifted with the ball at his feet was an absolute pest for the opposition defenders because of his size and power. He was also a pretty good defender in Citys box when facing set plays. He’s been unfairly rubbished on here.

O’Dowda - had the ability of pace and quick feet but was shackled and not allowed to play with freedom. Had he been encouraged to play his own game we’d be signing his praises and he’s another player who’s natural game was restricted - just as David Noble was.

For his size he was a complete lightweight - He SHOULD have been a pest and nightmare for Championship CBs

    He wasn’t

You’re aware that when Nigel Pearson took the City job Alex Scott was a 17 year old with zero football league appearances and Antoine Semenyo was a player with zero goals in forty three Championship games that plenty had written off as not being good enough for this level? To even suggest Pearson was just handed them as the finished articles they were on the day they were sold is wholly disingenuous.

I wonder how Liam Manning would have got on inheriting a car crash of a club, with a rotten culture of half arsed unfit players, no style of play, a wage bill that needed slashing to avoid points deductions, imposed austerity measures and a reliance on young, unproven players. Rather than the decent, solid, spirited, athletic, mid table team he actually did inherit.

To proudly boast of ‘not being a Pearson fan’ and attempting to make up complete garbage to criticise him shows you can’t have been paying attention.

Apologies to everyone for yet another thread being taken off course, but seriously, if people will insist on talking utter shit.

    Don’t apologise Bearded

    Cracking post

Yeah what an idiot Pearson is ‘losing’ players when budgets are having to be cut drastically to avoid points deductions.

If you were following the club at all at the time you’d be aware everyone knew Diedhiou was leaving on a free that summer before Nigel Pearson had even taken the job.

You are either on the wind up or just a genuine moron.

Going by his history of posts since ‘newly’ 🤔  joining I’m not sure which but I’d go for the former

The fact he appreciates FD and not Pearson is ......🤣

FWIW Diedhiou’s eyes were always elsewhere IMO , and it was completely apparent he was never signing a new contract

Should have been moved on after 12 months IMO - he was the probably biggest obstacle to LJ possibly progressing things IMO

We had a little halcyon period with TC playing of Wells in a 2. Both of them on the same wavelength almost in some form of symbiotic relationship of knowing where the other would be, if I recall the pair of them tore Cardiff a new one at Ashton Gate (oh the irony with the next fixture). We’ve moved so far away from that now to the point where 1 is the 60 minute substitute for the other….

Yes , not dissimilar but a younger version with ideally , being picky , just a tad more physical presence I’d say

LM doesn’t appear to want to play with a pair and with his preferred methods the theory of a partner is somewhat hypothetical.

His idea on a ‘partner’ would be much more in a number 10 role / way and aim not convinced even a good 10 is TCs ideal way

Tommy's off. He really needs a striker like Diedhiou or Semenyo to play off of imo.

Diedhiou was incapable of playing with a partner.

Little game intelligence or enthusiasm to work in conjunction with a partner

Setting aside how we are currently playing , Id say TCs ideal partner would be mobile , athletic , good movement and intelligence ,not necessarily a significant physical presence

The issue now for me, is what do I judge him on?

Just imagine he gets us back on track / improves us playing more of the Nige brand of football.  He’s only doing that to get him to the summer, when he’s gonna toss it in the bin, and recruit to go back to his way.  Why not be open-minded about what works and what didn’t.  And what if we regress further?

Surely, this was the time to stick to his plan, with no fear (little fear) of playoffs or relegation.

Following on from yesterday’s press conference where is his critical analysis of his own approach / method / style.

As others have said, playing the type of football he wants to play generally requires a PP budget.  We won’t ever have that until we get relegated from the PL (see the problem)!

This has turned into a pivotal two or three games because of yesterday.

one of the excellent thought provoking posts on this thread

All I’d say , about the bolded bit, and you have said ‘generally’ , I do believe it can be done and done successfully without PP budget

    But

You need to have a really excellent , top notch On the grass coach , or actually coaching team , not ‘ok’ or ‘decent’

but as well as that significant ask , you also need very good recruitment , and he also needs to have good or better , man management , in game planning and management skills , and the ability to lead

    Big ask !

  9. Some really good thought provoking posts on this thread 👍🏻

My issue is that it’s actually wider than LM and whether he’s a success or not

With the ethos and philosophies LM has and the suitability of the current squad for him etc

I would like to know from BT , whether we decided to abandon our repeated  athletic , pacy , front football playing blueprint , with sensibly recruitment to match , to a different playing ethos , more methodical and control based shall we say , and then they identified a Head Coach to deliver this  and recruited LM

Or did they bin Pearson , identify LM as the next bright thing and go for him realising that it meant doing a left turn not only on the playing blueprint , but recruitment too ?

No one has asked Tinnion or Lansdown about this and the implications or plan going forward

If LM doesn’t work out - where do we go then ?

Hunt for another coach with a very similar or identical philosophy ?

Shove that to one side and recruit what we see as the best manager / Head Coach available , with playing ethos irrelevant ?

Id like to know where we now see the playing and philosophy and vital recruitment to match it , whether under LM or a succesor(s) , is going forward and whether we have an actual plan now.

Still , I at least I have every confidence in Brian and Jon

Yep, default is to drop into a block.  Not a low block, quite a high block, but a block nonetheless.  City now wait for a trigger.  Under Nige we tried to force the issue more.  We weren’t a gegen-press either, but the intent was very different to now.

Just looking two little blocks of LM’s time here: (league only)

First block QPR to Hull - 604 mins / 19 shots / touches in pen area 24 / passes received 40

Second Block Watford to Sheffield - 738 mins / 7 shots / touches in pen area 22 / passes received 70

Not been at it, or getting completely different service.  60% of his passes received were inside the pen area in that opening block, 31% in the second block, ie he’s being asked to do more outside the box.

Stats aren’t everything, agreed, but the way we are playing is chalk and cheese. Look at where his chances came from in the cup…first time ball from Williams, through he goes to score. Another he was offside.  We’ve stopped creating those opportunities.

My impression / general recall Dave , (where you will be far more accurate)

is that a fair percentage of his career goals , and opportunities tend to come in the first say four or five touches after , the side , winning the ball back , ie shortly after turnover

(You May correct me ! 🤣)

Like , most forwards he likes space to run into , and spaces to find in the box for crosses

Our limited press , and slow build through the thirds resulting in and requiring a different threat or chance creating do absolutely nothing in utilising what he’s good at and his degree of natural instinct

If as it appears we ‘lose’ him I shall be extremely disappointed , as I genuinely thought and think he has a real something about him , and finding your own home grown goal scorer was a real hit start to hope of building a promotion threatening side (I still believe he’s good enough to be that player)

Will be almost , or , as disappointing , and depressing as the disappearance of NP for me personally,

100% agree so it no cheer from me either once the game starts or he comes on. His checking out' certainly was his choice but may have been more to do with other management at the club including the coach, who also made numerous mistakes with other players. He wasnt very complimentary about Ashton either, but for me it's water a long way under the bridge now. We will see quite a few players leave in the next few months if Manning is still in charge and gets money to spend

    Which coach ...

You are about to make some more stuff up arnt you 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣

    And personally

Not too keen on applauding , let alone a rousing reception for lazy players personally

I posted about Diedhou and there are a number of replies already; does this get moved to Ex-Players?

They player has often been described as universally popular with City fans so i guess it shows the forum to be exactly what we know, ie a very minority sample of people who like to use social media. Diedhou or Ashton or Pearson certainly made his exit a sour matter for BCFC fans and i guess we would all bet differently who should have taken the largest blame. I doubt our last manager comes out of this well and when you watch the highlights of his goals you wonder about Massengo and other departees. One thing for sure is Pearson left us in a total mess up front, not being able to score, having enjoyed the benefits of expensive talent like Scott, Semenyo & Weimann - unforgivable as a coach, IMO

    Oh my word

One of  the most hilarious and deluded posts I’ve ever read on here

    I will add Completely Bizarre

    Wow

Talk about a weird and twisted agenda
