I did a FBC pod with @headhunter and Chris a while back.  He’s a decent bloke.  I think like most of us (certainly me anyway) you aren’t gonna go on a programme like this and shout and bawl.  You can get your points across in your own way.

For me, I was glad to get across that LM has created sterile games, and that Southampton wasn’t the norm.

The mix of knowledgable fans and a sensible pro (Which CH is) is a good blend

Other than his opening comment on LM I couldn’t disagree with that much he said , he’s clearly not greatly impressed

I noticed he was quick to say yes , as a pro you can be quickly overloaded with information and instruction and how it can affect your game

Now we might think that would / could be the case but an example of where an ex pro’s opinion is always interesting

It makes Man City unplayable because no system can mark TWO players of that ability out of the game. I said before half time yesterday when they were still 1-0 down that KDB and Foden were starting to boss that game and that it was only a matter of time. Second half Man Utd couldn't deal with it. In fact if it wasn't for Onana that would have been a hammering yesterday.

Foden has moved from very good to top player over the last few months. Pep has managed him superbly.

    Has ridiculous qualities Numero

Quite bizarre and ridiculous balance , ability to change direction and glide with the ball

Possibly as a consistent outrageously good first touch as I’ve ever seen

    Very intelligent footballer

Good Finisher from inside or outside the box , either foot and even the odd header

    Unselfish

Works his a**e off , going both ways , pretty brave for a slight lad

    absolutely mesmerising to watch

Seems a good lad and does it all with a big smile on his face

    I quite like him 🤣

Fantastic footballer. I think there's a lot of players comfortable/good with the ball at their feet, its just that they aren't necessarily used as 'wingers' anymore.

I was only thinking last night , if you could only watch the performance of one current player every week , only one , who would you go with

For me , and has been for some time,  it’s Foden

Very rarely has the phrase ‘The Beautiful game’ been so more apt

If the presenter had gone into area, I’d have been happy to give my view.

I did say I thought they’d got the wrong bloke.

Which he basically ignored and stuck to a ‘what can be done to improve under LM questions’

Well done mate -  and on the subjects raised and questions asked - The other lad was sensible but you absolutely came across as having the best understanding and explanations , and far more than the ex pro

There's no speculation about who appointed LM, or who has been running the club for 20+ years.

Plenty of the conversation was speculation and opinion as to what was going wrong on the pitch, so absolutely somebody could have flagged up the actual root cause of the problems.

It is difficult though KITR , I’ve been on before and you have points  you’d like to talk about , but the host  / presenter has his questions and subjects and in a very limited time you either hope you are asked a question where you can talk about a certain subject or you derail the show by ignoring the question , and talking about something you want to talk about?

The presenter was pushing away from criticism about LM as it was

Theres probably only one man that would be so rude to derail and talk abou what he wants to  !

If they are going to have fans and CH / GO on , especially sensible ones , they need to use the full hour otherwise it’s a quick answer & q to the presenters questions

He's never going to say anything that is negative towards the club or Manning. Always sits on the fence.

    He volunteered the statement Spud

It wasn’t in response to any awkward question

I like CH but if he was determined to raise a positive it was IMO a very strange one , and a bad one

    Came across excellently @Davefevs👏🏼

What he got seemed to be a continuation of the previously planned January transfer window strategy. It smacks of absolute arrogance that the board felt we wouldn't need to worry about any major signings until the summer.

Interesting that you raise that word

Young @TomSutton talked about arrogance, from the hierarchy and tbh until that point I’d not really thought about this angle or label

You are both right IMO and in fact arrogance is IMO a large part of the problem here

They saw everything pretty hunky dory , ( except having to put up with the Oaf ) and it was time to get rid of the Oaf , and the next step was merely an appointment away under their new vision and under BTs football direction , because they knew better

The injuries and players schedules .....they knew better

(Brian , Jon...psssst..... you’ve overlooked the fact that we looked stable and moving forward and pretty hunky dory because of NP and his team and the plan everyone was working to.)

Change the playing ethos , no problem , destabilise the whole playing side , no problem

    Arrogance

    Severely ill judged Arrogance

People seem to forget we live in a country where free speech is allowed, getting personal because someone may have a different opinion to you is the lowest form of debate.

You might not agree with what people are saying on either side of this but write about the facts rather than resorting to calling people names, its childish.

We are all fans that want the club to do well, scrapping at each other trying to score points about who has a bigger footballing knowledge is pathetic, everyone’s opinion is valid, it holds the same weight whoever you are, and everyone has a right to voice that on whatever platform they have access to.

Are you the ‘Benney’ ’ who has being commentating on the texts of recent pods   ?

Podcasts need people like Ian, without them they become sterile and boring.

Why people get so offended about his opinion and still listen is ******* mental to me.

With the complete and utter nonsense he continually delivers , no great surprise that you don’t get it , like looking in the mirror eh

..............Are you his brother ? Son ?

Oxford 22-23 took over with 10 games left and Oxford in 19th - finished 19th

I mentioned this elsewhere, *Oxford stayed up last season by he skin of their teeth because they beat FGR in the last but one game. FGR have been the worst team in the EFL for the last 2 years and an absolute gift for struggling teams (see yesterday). If it hadn't been for that game Oxford could very easily have been relegated on the  last day and he wouldn't even have been of any interest to BCFC or any Championship club. So basically we hired someone largely due to a victory over FGR! Sliding doors moment.

*They also thrashed Cheltenham in the game before FGR. Cheltenham were on the beach having just ensured League 1 survival against the odds and had probably been on the lash for a few days.

I have no sympathy for him, no-one forced him to take this job, he knew he had zero Championship experience and would have known there was a risk it wouldn't work out.

His ‘CV’ isn’t really up too much when you actually look at it ( @Silvio Dantehas maintained this all along)

You could suggest its not only not particularly comforting but is actually flawed

Of course I'm not. But you can come up with "what if"s  about every single game if you want to.

What if we'd been given that penalty shout yesterday, or not had the goal disallowed at the end. What if Wednesday had had the red card they should have early on, and if we'd been given the clear handball pen near the end. What if Twine hadn't got injured. What if Sykes had stayed fit. I could go on.

Pretty much every single game that gets played will have reasons someone can point to why something might have been different. And if you want to you can pick every single one that's a reason to slate Manning, and ignore every single one doesn't fit that agenda.

    Simple Fact Dave

we are 22nd out of 23 in the form table since Boxing Day

    The only side worse

    All but relegated Rotherham

Time to wake up and open your eyes with due respect

  12. Id encourage all to listen to the FBC pod that was done this morning

I’ll leave each to decide who makes important and significant points in the debate and whether it affects your opinion

    It did mine

  13. Well.....that was a very entertaining and spicy watch ! On the pod and in the texts alongside it

Very good @headhunter 👏🏼 Thought you kept it running and moving excellently.

@NcnsBcfc consistently good and thought provoking points always with explanation 👏🏼 Your point about the Crowley Bros was particularly thought provoking and just about everything you said across the pod was just about spot on

You were only probably edged out for content by @TomSutton who , made some brilliant points , brilliantly and calmly explained , the points about players current mentality and the danger of sliding / sleepwalking into a relegation scrap , with the wrong mentality and spirit was a brilliant one

And his succinct assessment of LMs performance here towards the end - brilliant

Take a bow Tom - really good and interesting , thought provoking , to listen to

Id recommend to all -  it’s a really interesting listen at times 👍🏻

Lastly Mr Gay , his behaviour and rudeness has no boundaries , and I’m not sure whether it’s more cringeworthy, hilarious or embarrassing to see but his desperate Spluttering twists on anything and everything to defend LM (and slate anything Pearson 🤣) is not only embarrassingly desperate but completely weird

For the loudest voice who constantly loudly overtalks and interrupts others who shall listen while he talks or shouts , as he is ......the guru .......

    two little things

Firstly you may notice that at no point to the various scenarios @headhunter put to him about what he would do regarding LM did he actually give an answer as the Sutton’s did , he deflected and waffled , no danger of him actually answering the question

And his actual football knowledge and understanding - a insignificant point , but

Stick two on the posts it may save a goal’

A explanation on the pod by young Tom and a text from @Davefevs highlighted two significant reasons why that’s a opinion with zero context or understanding  and his footballing guru expertise (Nil)

The final outcome , in terms of behaviour , intelligence and understanding certainly football wise , the delivery and explanation of points , you were absolutely schooled by a young lad man @TomSutton 👏🏼🔥🔥🔥

It was Premier League v Wessex League Mr Gay

  14. What an incredibly rude , jumped up , ignorant little man Mr Gay is

@headhunter again , great hosting (You've really kicked on to another level with that skill 👍🏻

But the part I’ve just listened too when Mr Gay is on one desperately fighting criticism of LM and you politely ask him several times to hold as you wanted to move onto somebody else , he just keeps talking louder and louder over the top of you until you have to back off and he can continue.

Rude and ignorant doesn’t even touch it and not sure why you tolerate it tbh

The pod would be far far better without having to suffer him

At least we know why he felt short of breath yesterday , there’s probably not that much spare oxygen when it’s stuck up the HCs rectum 🤣

As always, people will pick what they want from a set of stats to prove what they want to prove!

To be honest, the ‘points from bottom 3’ has a lot more to do with how adrift Rotherham, QPR and Wednesday all were after 14 games. At that time there was a gap of 4 points between 3rd and 4th from bottom. Right now, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th from bottom all have the same points.

Not much sign of progress, certainly. But not much worse either.

    Dave

I have great respect for you as someone who clearly travels as many miles as probably anyone who supports the Club.

But you don’t like any whiff of criticism , (Although you weren’t so supportive of NP) and sorry , but if the Club served up a s**t sandwich for you , you would point out that it at least came with salad

This is spot on. The majority of us felt like we were all in it together. We had a manager who treated us with respect and was honest in his assessments and made us feel a part of the processes in moving the club gradually forward. We all knew the constraints he was under and accepted setbacks as part of the journey and felt proud that so many academy lads were progressing to our first team. Indeed BT himself used that as a USP in signing promising young players to our club.

But those in power evidently didn't like the fact the supporters felt a greater affinity to the club. It was, after all, their club. Not the popular manager's. So they found the appropriate moment to fire him and show us that they know better by bringing in a bright new spark who'd fire us, via the front foot, to a higher level. Instead, they have again shown themselves to be a bunch of incompetents. Manning is clearly out of his depth and is destroying all the positivity diligently created since Holden's departure.

Missed this post in the flurry of threads and posts today

    What a brilliant post 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The whole debacle brilliantly summarised and nailed in two paragraphs 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

NP games: 18 points in 14 games (1.28 per game). 15th, 8 pts clear of bottom 3

LM games: 23 points in 20 games (1.15 per game). 15th, 5 points clear of bottom 3

Inconsistency, signs of promise followed by disappointment, seems to be the over-riding characteristic of both!

Curtis Fleming, on the other hand…….😀😀

    Revealing

8 points clear of bottom 3 after 14 games

5 points clear of bottom 3 after 34 games

Sort of tells its own story there

Definitely not a great sign of any sort of progress or even stability wouldn’t you say
