Bristol R*vers dustbin thread

Slanging match and routine mutual insults aside, this would have been a very odd tale to have made up.

However, if Henbury Gas is honest, he may still have been misled - not lied to - by a person with learning difficulties who got unduly upset by an unexceptional incident, no?

His mistake may well be to have stated foolishly that he knew it to be true, just because he was told it.

I for one can imagine a situation where a person with learning difficulties just maybe sat in the wrong seat and got talked to by someone whose seat it was, in a slightly aggressive way.

At the end of the day, it may be that something that slight has got wildly exaggerated. All speculation, I know, but so is the whole dialogue.

As you rightly say, HG stated “that he knows it to be true”

He also, iirc said that the victim was sat in their own STH seat, not someone else’s.

If it infact transpires that they were sat in someone else’s seat, then they could easily have been told to move. I very much doubt that they suffered the loss of teeth over a simple misunderstanding..!

I seem to remember (again sadly in the Gaschat thread that was deleted) that the original claim of ‘teeth’ being knocked out changed to one ‘tooth’ and then eventually ‘tooth removed by dentist at a later date’.

Which was stuck under the victims pillow. And when he woke up he had a rovers season ticket .  :D

Either way, he’s got a gap then

No wonder he was made so welcome by the Sags

No you're wrong, the story now doing the rounds amongst the few is that a defenceless disabled person had his teeth knocked back down his throat by a huge vicious 'ted, witnessed by thousands who did nothing, recorded then deleted on CCTV, and ignored by the police and the media cos they're all gurt 'teds too!

Sounds plausible to me.

Ignorance is best ignored most of the time though Old, and because I’m a thick skinned sort of person, ignoring the bellends is easy done.

I’ve said my piece over there and they won’t listen to reason.

You can’t educate pork.....only stuff it.

How on earth can he come away thinking that we're the ones being ridiculous? He's been proven wrong about their fantasy policy of apparently not banning 'teds' unless they kick off, and just ignored it.

It’s what they do..!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I despair at some of the rubbish quoted on this forum regarding the Mem.
Sorry for the detail but it might enlighten a few.

In the Premier Division every club has 100% all seated stadiums. The vast majority have over 30000 capacity, the glaring odd one out being Bournemouth with 11360. The clubs that normally get relegated and then promoted back up a few seasons later almost every time are those with capacity of between 20000 and 30000.
In the Championship every club except one, being Brentford, has all seated stadiums. It is mandatory for the top two tiers of the league to be all seater. All seater stadiums are not a panacea for watching football or success on the field. Ask Sunderland fans! The fans sometimes are subjected to getting wet because the roof doesn't cover the seating and post holding the roof obstructs the view and some fans are squashed into corners with little view of the pitch.
Villa 42785   Birmingham 29409   Blackburn 31367   Bolton 28723   Brentford 12763   Bristol City 27000   Derby 335897   Hull 25586
Ipswich 30311   Leeds 37890   Middleboro 34742   Millwall 20146   Norwich 27244   Notts Forest 30445   Preston 23404 QPR 18439
Reading 24161   Rotherham 12061   Sheff Utd 32702   Sheff Weds 39732   Stoke 30089   Swansea 21088   West Brom 26850  Wigan 25138
From the above capacities you can clearly see which clubs that usually stay comfortably in the Championship and flit with promotion to the top tier and those that drop back down to level 3. It's interesting that our neighbours over the river even with a new stadium only have a capacity 11th from the bottom of the championship but not likely high enough to be sustainable in the top tier if they got there.
In Division 1 there are 16 clubs that have 100% all seater stadiums and 8 do not ranging from 40% to 75% seating, the Mem being one with 50%.
AFC Wimbledon 4850
Accrington 5057   Barnsley 23287   Blackpool 16750   Bradford 25136   Bristol Rovers 12300   Burton 6912
Charlton 27111   Coventry 32609   Doncaster R 15231   Fleetwood 5327   Gills 11582   Luton 10356   Oxford 12500   Peterboro 15314
Plymouth 16388   Portsmouth 21100   Rochdale 10000   Scunny 9088   Shrews 9875   Southend 12392  Sunderland 49000 Walsall 11300   Wycombe 10137
From the above capacities you can clearly see which clubs that usually stay comfortably in Division 1 and flit with promotion to the Championship and those that drop back down to level 4. Clearly this shows that the Gas are where traditionally we have usually played our football. Rovers sit 13th from the bottom capacity wise.
In Division 2 13 clubs have all seater stadiums, the rest range from 35% to 50%.
Bury 11840   Cambridge 8127   Carlisle 17949   Cheltenham 7066   Colchester 10105   Crawley 6134   Crewe 10153   Exeter 6087   Forest GR 4803
Grimsby 9052   Lincoln 10120   Macclesfield 9186   Mansfield 9186 MK Dons 30500   Northhampton 7798  Morecombe 6476
Newport 7850  Notts County 19841   Oldham 13512   Port Vale 19052   Stevenage 6722   Swindon 11547  Tranmere 16587   Yeovil 9562
From the above capacities you can clearly see which clubs that usually stay comfortably in Division 2 and flit with promotion to Division 1 and those that drop back down to level 5. Only 6 teams have a capacity greater than the gas.

The point I'm trying to make is that Rovers are roughly in the middle of the football league where their capacity says it should sustainably be located.
Having been to well over 120 stadiums watching Rovers over the years I can say first hand that the quality of the Men is roughly in the middle of all those grounds. The two worst that I recall were York and Atringham both of which made Twerton Park look regal. Those that state the Mem is one of the worst stadiums in the football league are IMO either frustrated, deluded or are glory hunters and have only attended those big capacity away big grounds

Topper saying they'd avg 15k with a bigger ground and that they have out grown the mem,
Rovers can't even  sell out the mem

Plural of stadium is stadia. Never heard of Alringham but Altrincham’s ground is ok, not a palace but better than the Memorial Ground.

Here is a picture of Altrincham's ground.

I can only see one temporary building, so that automatically makes it a better ground than The Mem.

Note to users of GasChat: A bunch of tents loosely together around a field of (what sometimes resembles) grass isn't a good stadium. If it was then I have been camping at some cracking stadia.

Well it never happened then, as we all knew.

What truly baffles me is having concocted, or embellished the story, Henbury Gas dug and dug and dug himself into a hole.

Is it possible there was a row? Yes.

Definitely not a chance, not one iota of truth to this though, yet he pushed it and pushed it all the way to meeting a police officer!

Nuts! Would have liked to have been a fly on the wall for his explanations...

As mods we had contact from HG this afternoon following his meeting with PC Julie and her colleague.

They had HG request us moderate the thread as there were comments on there the police didn’t like and any further comments that were directed to PC Julie were likely to warrant them taking further action against the posters.

The collective desicion was taken to lock the thread to protect anyone that felt the need to comment further and not HG.

We have also been told the police will be in contact with both forums to make a statement on the matter. When that is I don’t know but I am sure PC Julie will be along here shortly to make a comment in an official capacity as your liaison officer.

As regards the alleged claim made by HG, I am sure the statement the police will make will indeed settle the matter once and for all.

And be proven to be bull shit
