Non League Thread 2023/24

Clevedon Town going really well so far in the Toolstation Prem this season, unbeaten in the league.

Have an excellent keeper there who is definitely good enough to go up a league or two.

Bridgwater still have to be the favourites to win it & if they manage to keep a hold of their young striker Jack Thorne for the year that’ll be massive (NLS interest)

Scott Murray’s son, Jay also playing there, bit too good for the division if you ask me, but Weston Super Mare didn’t fancy him in NLS.

Portishead Town also going really well in the division below. Have a player up front who’s contracted at the club for the season (really rare for that level) scoring goals for fun. A few good sides like Brislington, Wincanton & Cribbs Reserves all going well & providing some early season competition for promotion though.

Roman Glass on the march in the Hellenic Prem as well, slow start to the season but they’ve won 7 of the last 10 to move into fourth.

Not so local but Worcester City looking well clear of the rest in that division, they average between 350-400 at home in what’s effectively the 9th tier of English football. Their local derby away at Worcester Raiders (who play in an 12,000 seater stadium) earlier this season pulled in an attendance of 2475!

That is a wild one amongst Keynsham's goal heavy results, but Keynsham is primarily a youth team. Primarily students from merchants academy. That's kids 16 - 19  playing v adults sides and occasionally beating them (7-3 Saturday).

Total Pro Soccer - Merchants' Academy (merchantsacademy.org)

The team frequently play remarkable eye catching possession football and then get over powered by opponents. What they are doing is exceptional, and they will not finish bottom of their men's league.

Bridgwater United have sacked their manager after losing their 3rd game of the season (P14 - W10, D1, L3)

Currently sit in 2nd, 1 point off the top & still in 2 or 3 cups including early stages of FA vase.

Mad!

Would keep an eye on that one, will be more developments. Chairman is a bit of a…uh…character, manager got sacked in front of the players.

Yeah I’ve heard the players aren’t too happy about it & a few 7 days will be/have already gone in from some other local clubs for a few of them.

Did anyone else from the staff get the boot?

Wondering if Llewy was still there?

Don't expect a few will be hanging around

Half the statement is basically about the owner then ends with "it's all about the club not any one person" 😅

I hadn't realised about his past until this evening, sounds like an "interesting" background

Anyone hear Ian Davis' interview on BBCRB today?

Basically said there's about 30/40 keyboard warriors and if they don't like it then can drive down the road and watch Taunton! Finished with a resounding "and I don't care!"

Sounded a right jumped up little ****.

Starting losing players now, main striker Taylor gone to Corsham.

Bridgy really embarrassing themselves on social media over the last day. Bragging massively about being top after beating Nailsea & Tick last night, and how that justifies the change. Failing acknowledge they’re only top because they’ve played about 3 games more than everyone else.

setting themselves up for a bit of a fail. Excited to see it!

Yeovil still top of Nat Lge South, eight points clear of 2nd placed Aveley, plus a GD of +15 and played one game less .

Bath are fourth, but Taunton 15th and WsM 17th.

I'm going to the Bath v Yeovil game early December, Yeovil been given and sold i believe 1200 tickets, apparently its close to a sell out although I'm not sure what a sell out is these days at Twerton. Only the 2nd time they have had segregation for a league game at TP apparently.

Clevedon Town carried on their unbeaten start to the season, they currently have 10 wins and 3 draws from their 13 games this season. Sit 3rd in the league with 2 games in hand on the top 2.

Bridgwater sit 2nd at the mo after their Friday night win at Nailsea & Tickenham. Thought they’d lose a few more of their players but they’ve only lost two so far & have managed to keep a hold of the top goalscorer in the league Jack Thorne.

Dave Pearse their former manager has joined the coaching team at Exmouth Town in the division above. Probably a bit far too attract any of his former players unless the money is right!

Portishead Town still top of Toolstation Div 1 & Ethan Feltham can’t stop scoring (30 goals from 19 games) They’ve also just signed a lad called Joe Berry from Nailsea & Tickenham who imo was their best player. Be a big loss for them!
