  1. Looking like it's going to be a 7 point lead, Essex likely to get a 3rd batting point but no more as there's only 9 overs left.

I'd have taken that before this round of matches. Maintain that lead into the Essex game, make the wicket a road, pray for rain and open the champagne

    Great signing Vijay

We've got to stop wasting money on overseas players that don't improve what we've already got. How Eddie Byrom feels about not playing in this game after drafting in Vijay I don't know.

Besides that great day so far

    115 off 13 ‘that’s about 10 an over isn’t it’ - peak #gaslogic from the commentator

The commentator with Gibbo is an embarrassment, everything he calls he gets wrong and has to correct himself. I've had to turn the sound off

I guess we’re stuck with him as per his contract. Last few games he’s been ok but never been great.

Yeah I don't think he's terrible, but an overseas signing has to be quite a bit better than what you've already got in that position. He clearly isn't and we knew he wasn't before we signed him this season.

  5. Well that was another rollercoaster 4 days

At one point I thought us and Essex would lose, then with Kent out for 40 I was cursing something rotten, now I'm ecstatic but knackered from just keeping up online.

I'm gonna need a long holiday at the end of September

Great effort and never say die attitude from Somerset

    Two, actually.

Whilst he is only contracted for 20/20, Taylor is registered, meaning only one of Ali or Babar.

    Yes, 2 of course.

I would happily un register Taylor and keep the other 2 for the rest of the championship games though.

Defo good move in bolstering up the batting. Who drops out though? Davis and Banton gets the gloves?

Azhar Ali will drop out. Too much bother un registering Babar and re registering Azhar and then reversing it again apparently.

You can only have one registered at a time

Any fellow reds going to Taunton ?

Hopefully see a few down there ,

on a side note I get the train from nailsea , and arrive in good time for a pre match beer , however now with the floodlights which means a later finish , there’s a train which leaves Taunton at 928.  Just as the game is finishing , or the next one is an hour later , I will have my lad with me.  So I’ve two choices leave early and leg it to the station or hang around late at night with my lad , what am I to do ?

Why is it in these situations, which I often find myself in at football and cricket, the game is never a one sided affair with a certain result obvious well before the end, meaning you can sneak away quickly yo catch that early train?

No, you can guarantee it'll go to the wire with the final over taking 15 minutes as the fielding captain makes 50 fielding changes per ball.

With T20 it always feels a bit worse missing a bit as it's so short anyway but I can understand it if you have your lad with you

  9.  Oh dear! That was quite disastrous. Even in defeat you usually get a minimum of 3 points, 3 for bowling on a bowler friendly wicket and at least 2 batting points and a couple bowling on a batting wicket but how you just get one when you've put them in is disaster.

Struggling to find a positive here, I suppose with a month gap now we've time to regroup and plan our last 4 games.

And to be fair, in the seasons we've come tantilisingly close we've been more than 4 points behind the leaders at this stage.

Jack and Lewis in Lions squad - will miss the Yorkshire game. Hopefully Craig and Brooks fit by then.

It certainly could gave been worse, COverton, JOverton, Bess could all have been picked.

Just hope they send them back in one piece

  11. Brilliant all round victory and particularly pleasing to see the top order contribute.

Abell, Hildreth, Banton, Bartlett all getting over a 100 runs in the match and Azhar not far behind with 91.

Our first max points win of the season and we havent pulled any points on our main rivals shows how important it was.

Historically looking back at previous tables, 10 wins has more or less got you the title.

5 wins from 8 games.  Dare to dream?

    http://www.espncricinfo.com/table/series/8052/season/2018/county-championship-division-one

Which would leave Hants needing 7 from 8 or York's 8 from 8.

I'm trembling with excitement, I'm considering chucking my job in so I can go to every game left, I don't want to miss that moment, or the last game when we parade the trophy and Tres gets his emotional final innings.

OK, I know, I need to calm the **** down

I appreciate that the large lady has probably yet to even leave her seat, but I hope that Messrs. @TomF, @ralphindevon and @Super are more relaxed this morning than they seemed to be yesterday evening.

I tend to agree with @phantom that there appears to be some resilience and 'never say die' attitude in the team this year - the baby-faced, almost cherubic looking Tom Abell would seem to be a bit harder than he looks.

Now 7 wickets down, and perhaps thoughts may be turning to claiming the extra half hour  - if the match is not already completed by lunch.

Edited to note that, whilst our old friend Mr Batty has long gone, our other friend, Rikki Clarke, is now facing.

I just asked for a couple quick wickets for me to be relaxed, I must say it was a lot easier than I'd imagined.

I'm trying to remember back to the seasons we've finished 2nd and even the season we tied on points. Is it just me or does this team seem a better all round team than those?

Everyone is contributing, except maybe Marcus, though his experience on the field  and slip catching can't be ignored.

We’ve lost this with a brainless second innings.  Should have made the game safe first ffs

Some poor bowling too, especially from Groenwald. Leach seemed to struggle with cold hands. Need a couple of quick wickets in the morning just to get them nervous, else it' a loss and a huge dent in our dreams. We would have had one hand on the trophy with a win
