I'm with Nige generally, but was tonight's ref really that bad? I didn't think so. If one of your players decides to risk a red card by making a mad challenge, you can't stand there and say yeah but their bloke retaliated. I agree in general, but the wrong game to bring this up, for me. I didn't think tonight's ref was poor. All about opinions, I guess.

Up until the penalty claim I hadn’t noticed the ref really which is a good thing, but he had a mental 5 minutes where every decision went to Luton and we didn’t get much after that really.  I thought at the time Sykes challenge was risky so no complaints, but the pushing afterwards should have been a red also.

  2. For me you simply can’t drop the front 2 after they both not only scored, but looked dangerous and can only build their relationship through game time, plus dropping him after scoring would tell him it doesn’t matter in the future if he plays well as he will get dropped which is hardly good man management.  Martin coming on to see the game out works better from a game management perspective.

    Wow.

“It will be nice to see Kal for a moment, I’ll speak to him after I’m sure, but I’m not interested in reacquainting myself with anyone. I want to win the game, so if I never speak to Kal Naismith again but win the game, I’ll take that and that’s nothing on Kal, I really like Kal, and he did excellent for this football club.”

    That's some serious venom.

Dave Smith is one of the few times I've really admired an opposition player, we've signed him & he turned out ad good as I'd hopes.  A pretty basic player, but quick as a whippet & foot like a traction engine.

He was also involved in 1 of my fave all time goals at the Gate, home to Blackburn, 1st game of the season after promotion, a fantastic left foot cross headed home with aplomb by Nicky Morgan.

That Blackburn game was great, really sunny, we played great, 4-2 was it?  Lots of goals anyway!

It's not the presence in the stands, but the string pulling behind the scenes which is the problem.  He left Man Utd in a mess and then critiques every move of every successor from the Directors' Box.

Sir Alex didn’t leave them in a mess, he won the league, chose Moyes to succeed him, had a proper handover and had a plan in place to take them forward.  The problem came when they sacked Moyes and then ripped up the plan and started chucking money about like confetti on managers and players with no idea what the plan was.  They lost all culture and identity within a couple of years, and it will take many many more to turn it around.

I'll probably remember more as the day goes on so will keep you posted. Thanks for listening.

The nicknames like Florist etc are so lame, yeh we get it, Florist sounds like Forest, cant OTIB introduce an autocorrect function to remove these?

FFS has to be the most annoying post ever.  Why sign into OTIB and then onto the match day thread to just post FFS, what a waste of time and energy!

Not so relevant now but ‘Little Lee’ used to do my head in, such a deliberately derogatory and patronising phrase to use.

To add a positive spin, I do enjoy when the puns take hold for a few pages, unlike the Monty Python quotes which we all know and have heard a billion times, just in OTIB, but still get trotted out to prove we all know the script of Life of Bryan!

For every glory hunting kid at school in the nineties, this is for you ?

Man Utd fans of that Ilk have had their fun, back to reality now!  They will go as long as Liverpool did before they are anywhere near challenging again, it shows how well some of the previous sacked managers like OGS and Jose actually did with what is a disjointed, entitled, not as good as they think they are squad!

    Hi all

Has anyone got a city 125th anniversary shirt that they are looking to sell?

If so, I would be interested in buying one at the right price

Been looking for one for a while now yet can't find one anywhere.

    Thanks

  9. For my, the best managers in my 30 odd years of support are Danny Wilson for the style of football, GJ for being the closest in 40 years to get us to the Prem (and that night in the playoffs v Palace), and SC for winning the double, and I don’t care if the stats do or don’t back that up or what league they won games in either!

I must admit, I’ve not thought through the finer details yet ??  As it’s hypothetical anyway, I’d probs say anyone from the counties of Bristol, South Glos, North Somerset and maybe Banes “if I wanted to share the love” is allowed, but outside of that, not interested mate!

I would allow siblings of long term season ticket holders who may live outside of the defined boundaries, but that would require a vote

Obviously any links to Rovers that are not declared when signing and later uncovered would lead to an immediate ban

What would constitute the Bristol area or qualify a player? To play for Bilbao you need to be born a basque, but not necessarily in Spain. French basques count and Fernando Amorebieta was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Do we claim anywhere in the West Country (whatever that is defined as) or anyone born to a Bristolian.
