Absolute wanchor club, spent money they don’t have for years & seem to think the rules don’t ever apply to them.

Real Madrid are exactly the same.

In contrast Athletic Bilbao haven’t signed a new player in 5 seasons, always pay their way, produce incredible numbers of players through their youth system & are usually top half.

Everyone who plays for them has to either be born in or grown up in the Basque Country.

No comparison at all, so don’t give me all that “mas que un club” horseshit.

I love that Bilbao approach, I’d love City to do similar, I know it might mean less success (not that we have much anyway!) but it would really bring the whole club together, players and fans, all from Bristol area, all in it together, instead of the feeling that most players are just there as a job, not because they have any affection for the club.  It would give us such a strong identify.  It won’t happen obvs but would be nice

  2. I think NP also suffers because of what he did at Leicester, and the expectation is that he has some kind of Midas touch and will succeed in doing the same here.  The problem is that the factors are all different, so the chances of him doing that IMO are either low or completely unknown.

If Neil Warnock, with multiple successes at multiple clubs in all sorts of situations, came in then I think the expectations would be justified, but maybe NP, like Danny Wilson before, has had his day in the sun when all the stars aligned, and it’s not going to happen  again?

They won’t even want that as it’s definitive proof they can’t escape from, when officials lie in front of assessors then you know what they’re about

‘They’ shouldn’t really have a say, if UEFA of FIFA or indeed the Prem decided it would improve the game to mic up refs (even if not broadcast) then it should happen.  The lack of accountability from officials is staggering when you think how much money is at stake!

Have to be honest I have very little interest in ladies sport - I just find it boring and low quality.

What you mean is you don’t have interest in sport played by women, football isn’t a ladies sport, it’s a sport that can be played by men and women, as can all sports!  Do you think Serena Williams is low quality at tennis?

Given today's wall to wall bandwagon jumping it's hard not to.

But I'll be open. I'll commit to attending as many women's matches next year as I did this. (In my case that's not difficult.) Unlike others I won't scream women's football is the greatest thing since slice bread then do nothing until success is next in the horizon.

Just 31 minutes of another game will beat your record!

My 'very poor' post simply highlighted the blind adulation, bandwagon jumping  that pervades today, in this case the phrase 'done something no men's team could do since 66'. As I highlighted there is NO comparison, though clearly reading whilst wearing rose-tinted glasses is difficult for some.  For one the 'professional' men's game is required to publish accounts that meet certain criteria. The 'professional' women's game is that in name only. Wholly bankrupt, minimal revenue (why might that be,) and dependant upon funding provided by, er, the men's game.

I posed the rhetorical question if there was a comparison just how comparable are the two, then proffered my own answer? Few were brave enough to suggest an answer knowing they'd be shot down if so doing. That's the nature of debate these days.

I congratulated the woman several times for their achievements and for the impact they'll have on the development of woman's football.

But we'll leave it to the bandwagon jumpers who, if true to their word, will ensure a massive expansion in attendance at woman's football this season. They sure as hell need the money.

To be fair well done, bravo and all that but they haven't 'done something no men's team could do since 66', for men aren't permitted to play in woman's tournaments (at least not yet.)

Admittedly I only watched about 30 mins of the whole tournament, but that was sufficient. By all means celebrate a great achievement for woman's football but in all seriousness answer this: Against which City representative side do you think the Lionesses would remain competitive? I reckon they might give the boys U16s a game but by U19s they'd struggle. U23s they'd be played off the park. And that's City.

From the few bits I did see the Spaniards were technically light years superior to anybody else and attempted to play something resembling adult men's football. England may well be champions of Europe and good on them. But if comparing to men's football, lack of ball control, ball retention and kick and rush, there is no comparison. I trust their success has women and girls rushing to pull on their boots to get involved, for that can only be a good thing  Just spare any conflation with the men's game as the two have little in common.

You watched 30 minutes of the whole tournament, deduced Spain were the only team close to the mens game, and then posted on here to tell us about it like some kind of footballing oracle.  Embarrassing.

It doesn’t matter whether they are better or worse than any standard of the mens game because it’s not the mens game, not that you would know as by your own admission you only watched 30 minutes of it.  Very poor post.

  8. Interesting to read back through this thread to read the negative comments about the lack of beer getting spilt in fan zones as if womens football could never be popular and this tournament didn’t matter, well you look small minded and stupid now.
As a father of two daughters I hope this serves to inspire them especially but all football fans men or women, absolutely great.  I heard the atmosphere at the games, whilst different to mens game, was a breath of fresh air and certainly better for kids.  So glad we won’t see headlines about drunken middle aged blokes fighting in the streets!  Come on England!

Look I dont wanna get in an argument, Igot different views to you, endnof. I just don't enjoy watching women present mens football

*****, where have I said that? Anith holier than though jumping on the bandwagon

Weird view as it’s mostly men who have been commentating on sports involving women since tv began until the recent era

Focus only on the twins part then. Not the actual point I've made throughout, only the side note.

I focused on the bit that you were incorrect on, if you want to start posting about something you don’t know about (and I do after living and breathing it for 6 years) then I will call it out

    It absolutely makes sense.

Creating an extra person who is going to live 70-100 years is a much bigger burden on the Earth than someone using a car. Promoting IVF promotes having children where there would otherwise be no children, thus increasing the population and adding to emissions to a much harsher degree... especially if the child goes on to have kids, and they do, and they do and so on.

I believe it's a 40-60% likelihood that a successful IVF pregnancy results in twins too, so double the emissions.

It doesn’t, your stats are wrong.  In the Uk they used to use multiple embryos as they thought it gave more success, but all it did was create more multiple births, so practice now is to use single embryos as safer for mother and gives just as much chance.  40% is pretty much top end success, nowhere near 60%.  Check out BRCM website, lots of info on there.

They say that if the insects disappeared overnight then life on earth would be killed off within a few years.

But if humans disappeared overnight the planet would immediately start to thrive. Says it all.

Anyway, what’s all this got to do with the fact that there’s only one team in Bristol?

Doc on Netflix is good about fishing industry, there was an oil tanker spill that resulted in much improved fish stocks as the fisherman couldn’t fish because of the oil slick! Humans are locusts pure and simple!  Anyway COYR!

So much virtue signalling when it comes to climate awareness and actions.

The common man being told to change his ways, while the elite, big business, carry on doing whatever they want.

The latest being farming. The world elite have decided farming is evil and a massive contribution to climate problems. So they want to get rid of farming. To eventually eat food grown in factories. Petri dish food.

Governments and elite grabbing farming land. With no intention of farming. Check out how much farm land Bill Gates has bought up in the States, just so it can't be used. Whilst pilling Billions into factories producing Petri dish food. Our planned future consumption.

Check out what's happening with the farmers in Holland.

Even our own Government have introduced a new initiative for farmers here to pack it in, and apply for a minimum £100k pay off to do so.

Meanwhile nutters like Elon Musk and his play rockets...

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starship SN15 released 358 tonnes of CO2 during its first complete high-altitude flight on 5 May.

This emissions total is the same amount that 4.6 million people in the UK released in the same time period, according to data we sourced from Everyday Astronaut and the Office for National Statistics.

    That's an 11 minute flight.

Searching apparently so that one day we maybe able to live somewhere else...whilst NASA have said after 6 months in a Space Station, the muscle and bones of the astronauts have aged 10 years. So there is no chance we as humans could ever live elsewhere.

Never gets spoken about by mainstream media....it won't be, as most are owned by the same narcissistic nutters.

Just watch...this next year, all you will hear about is climate change...it's the new narrative.

Recycling your rubbish and buying a 'green' football shirt means jack shit in the big picture.

Until Russia, China, South America, Asia change their polluting nothing will change. Pretty much the biggest populations in the world.

Yet little ol' UK is told we have to change so drastically.

So much bollocks and virtue signalling.

100% Agee, for example recycling in the UK is a complete sham just to make us feel better about ourselves, many many stories out there on what actually happens to all this stuff we recycle, which mostly involves paying other countries to take it off our hands and dump it!

As someone whose children were born via IVF, I laughed at this and it didn't bother me in the slightest.

And - for reference - we had IVF because of me.

Same here, both my children were born through IVF (including my 2nd daughter 4 weeks ago) and also because of me.  I wasn’t offended, it just didn’t make sense

That would be in relation to what's in his post....

Kids are the biggest contributors to a person's emissions, apparently.

I'm not sure what it is you don't get..?

I think It’s referring to rising populations rather than the actually extra kid, I.e. having less kids across the board will reduce populations and therefore CO2 over the course of their lifetimes, or something like that, it defo has nothing to do with the IVF process specifically.

You can book me for parties or nights out ?
