Jerseybean
It’s a sell out, but will it be a Good Friday for Bristol City? Their last game was a 4-2 defeat against Chelsea in the FA Cup, a game in which Callum Doyle got a red card, so he won’t feature. We lost 1-0 at the King Power in September with Jamie Vardy scoring from the spot: https://www.bcfc.co.uk/video/highlights/extended-highlights-leicester-city-1-0-bristol-city/ Based on the last 10 league games they are 8th with 17 points and we are 17th with 10 points, in the form table. Nigel Pearson had two spells in charge at Leicester City, 20 June 2008 - June 2010 and 15 November 2011 - June 2015. Here’s a fascinating perspective: https://www.leicestertillidie.com/nigel-pearson.html Last season they won their last game against West Ham to give hope of PL survival, however, Everton’s 1-0 victory against Bournemouth sealed Leicester’s fate. Gary Lineker’s thoughts at the time: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/65743099 and Dean Smith’s reaction: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/65715134 Prior to this season we last played them in January 2013 when they won 4-0 (Chris Wood scored a first half hat trick and Matty James notched the fourth), our line up that day was: Dean Gerken Stephen McManus James S Wilson Liam Fontaine Greg Cunningham Ricky Foster Liam Kelly Stephen Pearson Cole Skuse Steve Davies Jon Stead Players introduced from the bench were Paul Anderson, Joe Bryan and Bobby Decordova-Reid. Manager Derek McInnes was sacked shortly after the game, https://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/jan/12/bristol-city-sack-derek-mcinnes, McInnes was dismissed after losing 31 of his 62 games in charge. Head-to-head record Won: 20 Lost: 29 Drawn:19 James and Williams are likely to be included in our squad following injury. The foxes were crowned Premier League champions for the 2015-2016 season. Their unlikely success has been hailed as the ultimate example of what can be achieved with team spirit, dedication, self-belief, vision and no small amount of ability. Last week it was revealed they could face a points deduction https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68580638 and https://www.otib.co.uk/topic/224809-leicester-city-points-deduction/ and https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68635985 As mentioned there is the NP connection (plus MJ and AK) thought one of their fans summed NP up well, ‘It always saddens me when Nigel Pearson gets sacked. Pearson builds a team, doesn’t buy one. He’s got the ability to work within a budget and change the mentality of the the team and players. He pays special attention to a players character and personality. None of that can happen overnight and not many teams give him enough time. It seemed like you guys were starting to do that so fair play to you but then it all came crashing down.’ Another said ‘think I speak for many LC fans when I say that Bristol City had become our second team for the obvious connection of Nige, Matty James, Kingy and briefly Simoo. But that all disappeared when you culled our favourite guy.’ 4 10 3 Quote Link to comment
GrahamC
Just a quick update on that 4-0 hammering when McInnes was sacked immediately after the game, it was Liam Kelly’s debut, one of many players that McInnes (sadly) brought down from Scotland. Although his career went on some odd tangents to Oldham then Orient after Cotts used him as a makeweight in the Korey Smith deal, he’s had a very good career. Remember at the time thinking what must he have made of the day.. 1 Quote Link to comment
wendyredredrobin
Can't honestly say that I am looking forward to another game of Manningball and what will probably be our 6th defeat in the last 7. That said, these are the types of games we seem to do better in so we will probably defend for 90 mins and score in the 5th minute of injury time to take all 3 points. Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Fordy62
The game pales into insignificance when compared with the released of Zak Vyner’s clothing range. Puts a game like this into perspective. 2 22 Quote Link to comment
Loco Rojo
If Leicester have done their homework on how we play (and tactics we do well against v when we don't), it should enable them to set themselves up for a win. I can only see an easy 3 points for them. Lets face it, if Leicester get their set up wrong early and start badly, they'll likely adjust and beat us (we won't adapt during the game). Sad times. DaveInSA
On the one had a massive defeat could hammer another nail in the Manning coffin. On the other hand I hate seeing us lose games and would love us to beat the best team in the division at home. And on my other foot Manning won’t be fired this year regardless. Quote Link to comment
Sea Basso
According to their website they had 13 international players feature on Tuesday, that’s one thing that will work in our favour. source: https://www.lcfc.com/news/3942587/daka-scores--wards-wales-are-beaten-for-euro-2024-spot Edited March 28 by Sea Basso Quote Link to comment
Herta
I work for a company based in Leicester, their fans are hoping for a rout tomorrow for Nige. They’ve enjoyed watching it all go to shit under Manning. I think there’s probably not so many left on the playing side with links to Nige so that sentiment is likely to be confined mainly to the away end. 3 Quote Link to comment
Numero Uno
Low Block, create next to nothing unless we get a set piece right, put in some effort, comfortable 1-0 or 2-0 loss. Bit of moaning tomorrow but everyone then having eyes firmly peeled on Monday where yet another defeat would be the end of Manning. That's how I see it. 2 Quote Link to comment

I'm afraid we will be stuck with the cockwomble for the duration. Sell all our best players, replace them with dross then sack an experienced manager who had the support of the fans and replace him with someone clearly way out of his depth. Well that's a £1,000 worth of season tickets that won't be renewing here - and how many others are feeling the same. The club is going backwards and I can't see any signs of this changing for the foreseeable. 5 1 Quote Link to comment

Season Ticket sales are quiet, we all know that, and the club WILL have to act by 23rd April unless they really want to stick the biggest of middle fingers up to the fans!! 2 Quote Link to comment

Sad to say but I can see City getting zero points from the Easter fixtures. However I don’t see two more defeats being the end of Manning - the hierarchy SL in particular have a decent track record of sticking with managers and unless City are seriously in danger of relegation Manning will be in post next season - two more wins will guarantee survival. Obviously with the Easter Championship results will produce changes to the table so let’s hope the clubs below us continue to struggle. Quote Link to comment
22A
From the Leicester forum; https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/134396-local-info-for-those-heading-to-bristol-city/ Nice to see its a sell out for Leicester followers, so here is some local info for those heading to west country Coming by road, yes it is good friday, but you never know how busy the motorway can be,so set out early from your departure point Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol YOU WILL GET LOST If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport It looks the long way round but its quicker. reddogkev
Can't wait for this game, after a break the next match always feels like it's gonna be something special. I have the strange feeling it's going to be a 2-2 draw. Both sets of fans bloody love Pearson but he was sacked by both clubs. Football really is a funny one. I guess almost all managers have to be sacked at some stage, just part of their journey and life. Quote Link to comment
reddogkev
fwiw, I still believe that Pearson was released mainly due to his health situation, but the club agreed to keep this out of the media due to respecting his privacy wishes. I've heard that from quite a few people and it stacks up with the fact NP isn't straight back into management, and probably won't be for a while longer. 1 2 Quote Link to comment
1960maaan
Tomorrow will be interesting for one thing at least , our low block . Up there it was the first time I saw a Pearson team sit off , we created a few chances and could have ( undeservedly ) nicked a point. But we didn't look to try and take the game to them . TBF they were flying , so I guess it was a similar "stay in the game" thing we have seen lately. Now tomorrow. They are looking less 'unbeatable' lately , but our go to style has been "stay in the game" . I can't see that changing any time soon , so I think it will be a game of attrition and hope we can nick something . It's going to be difficult tomorrow , right from the start it will be challenging . Looks like I might have to lower myself to go into Wetherspoons as it's a religious Bank Holiday and real Pubs won't be open . Quote Link to comment
brad blit
I see Nigel is one of the Sky Sports presenters tomorrow, but he's commenting on the later Champ games. Im sure Sky would have contacted him initially asking to commentate on a game with 2 of his previous clubs, but wonder if there is an 'agreement/clause' that he cannot participate in any Bristol City engagements for a period of time. Phew……. Both of them signed for a PL club and raised millions for City - very little of which was made available to Nige to strengthen the squad. To replace players of the same quality would have cost pretty much what City got for them. Mehmeti is a bang average Championship player as is Cornick but they both do a decent enough job but neither are in same class as Scott and Semenyo. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Nigel Pearson did not want to leave, regardless of his health! He wanted to continue here. They sacked him. So it doesn’t stack up Kev, it’s just a bit of 2+2=5, convenient as it sounds. 12 2 Quote Link to comment
