Celtic Fans...

I think some are getting confused with asking for proof and defending anyone that may have chanted these things.

I'm not sure one single fair-minded Celtic supporter would try and defend any of the alleged chants, while at the same time it's understandable many are asking for proof when we've had incidents like the 'Islam CSC' fiasco recently.

I don't have a problem with anyone disliking Celtic, or fairly debating why. A club so open to its Irish heritage and a fair amount of supporters disliking the English, the British Army etc is always going to polarise opinion and bring out real venom in some. Even before the moronic actions of a few 'supporters'.

It's only the biased, point scoring ones that are boring. The mere mention of anything Celtic related on here brings them out seething with faux rage and anger. No coincidence it's usually the ones with a barely subtle love of Rangers.

Instead of fans from both sides desperate to fan the flames and show everyone how horrible the other side is, I wish they'd realise that some neutrals dislike Celtic, some dislike Rangers, a fair amount can't stand either and the majority don't care in the slightest.

Don't understand this "2nd team" nonsense, if someone came on here saying their 2nd team was Chelski, Man Utd etc, or walking around in 2nd team colours they would get hammered.

following rangers is a differant experiance everyone i have taken up gets hooked on it the football is shite as been since 2003 ish if the truth was known, the people and the passion get to you and you come back feeling a little more British which aint bad with all the shit going on in the world

I second this. Twitter and forum posts are not evidence that there was chanting at the Brentford game.

Furthermore, if you read the posts in the big pic, many (if not most) are telling the idiots to pack it in.

Don't forget that the schools in Scotland broke up for the Summer hols a few weeks ago! It wouldn't surprise me if some of those vile posts on that thread are kids trying to sound like the big man.

I can totally understand 'following another team', if that team is Rangers. I am incredibly passionate about Bristol City, hate everything Bristol Rovers, despise Cardiff, had a season ticket for around 7 out of 10 seasons, the only exceptions were when i had to work. I have said before on here i could quite easily of chose Arsenal, my Great Great Uncle is pictured on the outside of the Emirates next to Bob Wilson and Dennis Bergkamp, however i'm Bristolian and it would just feel odd to attend games there and mingle with people i have nothing in common with? I do have a keen interest in Rangers due to being a big fan of Paul Gascoigne, and i don't know if you're allowed to be proud to be British these days without being accused of being racist or EDL or some other junk but i think it's great how Rangers fans embrace this. 100% of me wanted City to beat them a couple of weeks ago but i admired their amazing support and would love for us to one day reach those incredible levels of support, whilst realising the chances of that are slim to none. I will be in Bournemouth this weekend sat on the beach with my Bristol City flag shown proudly, it is possible to be keen on another team but not let any level of interest in them interfere with my support towards MY team.

Fair play to you, nice to hear someone put their liking for Rangers so well, makes a change from most of the rabid lunatic ramblings from the majority of the Gers followers/supporters on here.

In fairness man city averaged 25 thousand in what is now league 1. Leeds and Norwich 24 thousand, it's not inconceivable that a team with the previous success and world wide following of Manchester united or even Liverpool would still draw crowds of 40 thousand plus if they ever did drop down the divisons. At least at first.

It was a long time ago, but Man Ure did - and we did the double over them :)

Before my time, but a bloke in the office always goes on about united having the highest average attendence in the country even though they were in division two in 74/75. Was that the season? Would be nice to mention doing the double over them that year next time he brings it up!

Over in hulme. But I work in the northern quarter- which I guess you will drink. There's some good pubs doing some good ales round there. Oldham on the tram will be easy for us both this season!

look around the brentford forum and stop being boring ,thats all you got to say and stick yer silly little flags and shit all over the page think you better move on and leave this one alone as you clearly havnt got a clue go and guess the crowd or summut,

You need to work on your grammar, shocking!!

As said by most sensible people there has been no evidence and after the police released a statement yesterday saying there was no such chant I think I shall believe them. Horrible rumour started by people I'm sure most will know who they support. Point scoring over such is vile and sick!!

Taken from yesterdays Hounslow, Heston & Whitton Chronicle

Police deny Celtic fans sang Lee Rigby songs

Jul 25 2013 By Chris Longhurst

A SENIOR police officer has defended the response to problems posed by drunken Celtic fans at the recent match with Brentford.

Sally Benatar, chief inspector of operations for Hounslow Police, said no-one was in any danger despite a mass pitch invasion at the final whistle in which officers were seen to stand by and do nothing.

This comes despite bag searches failing to reveal several smoke bombs which were set off during the game and the possibility of other weapons being missed as well.

She said: "At the end of the match approximately 400 Celtic supporters entered the playing area. At no time were players, officials or club staff placed at risk. The number of supporters moving forward does not allow stewards and police to forcibly return supporters to the stands in a safe way. On Saturday, the co-ordinated response was to ensure the two sets of supporters were kept apart and then encouraged to return to their stands safely."

She added CCTV will be used by the club and police to identify invaders.

One of the most distateful of allegations circulating post match was a number of Brentford supporters who contacted the Chronicle to claim they witnessed Celtic fans singing songs glorifying the IRA and the recent death of soldier Lee Rigby who was attacked outside barracks in Woolwich back in May.

One man claimed to have been 'sickened' by the songs his family had heard and said it was wrong for anyone to 'get away with it'.

These were given greater depth when people claiming to be Celtic fans wrote messages on Brentford forums saying they too had witnessed the incidents and were ashamed of their fellow supporters’ behaviour.

The Chronicle asked the police whether any complaints had been made regarding these allegations and if an investigation was taking place.

A spokesman confirmed no allegations of any offensive songs or chanting had been received and added if anyone knew of any specific incidents they should report them to police immediately.

Crazy world. I would have thought celebrating the murder of Lee Rigby was beyond the pale even for Celtic.

Still, they celebrate the IRA and how they bravely murdered a three year old child in Warrington with a bomb they stuffed into a waste paper bin.

Also the poppy, a symbol of the sacrifice many young men gave with their lives to defend our freedom (not some bullshit egotist trip like bobby sands) becomes in their eyes somehow a "blood stained"' symbol of imperialist oppression.

I can't understand why anybody from England would have any affinity with this club.

Many Celtic fans have ancestors murdered by the British Army over the Centuries, my grandfathers Brother died in Gallipolli fighting for this country why his fellow countrymen were being executed without trial in kilmainham jail, i can fully understand why they wouldn't wear the poppy, (personally i'm down the Cenotaph every November) many 1000s of Irishmen died fighting for World peace and 99% do not support the IRA or the murder of Kids, you should not be so small minded.
