astrondrew
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Andi play for us over the years. Sorry to see him go but probably a decent move for all. Here's hoping it's freeing up financial space for someone to unlock defences. Prem loan anyone?
HappyClapper
It also should be noted his positive influence on our younger players. Scott and Conway in particular. A top professional and a top bloke. It seems this move suits all parties and I wish him nothing but the best. (Apart from 16th March).
MrRedRobin
Wonder who will take over as captain? I would assume James but then guess you can't rule out Zak or Knighty
Henry
We are in the era where every signing we make is almost thought as how much we can sell them for at a later date. For £2m for 5 years of fantastic service, I don’t think there could be any complaints. I hope we still have an eye on these sort of signings.

Its not often we sign someone in their peak years when they're already a proven performer at this level and then they leave with us feeling that they've proved their worth and don't owe us anything.
ChrisJ
Evening, Andi has been a great servant for us, had the habit of both dazzling and frustrating in equal measure!!!! Apart from that wonderful season of goals where he looked a million dollars. I think this is a bonus as he seems to be slowing down and I’m not sure he is the player he was - nevertheless, a loyal servant of the club who has given his all, thank you Andi.

Wasn't he captain at Aberdeen? Knighty will be good too. Edited January 12 by Ska Junkie
Gimme Shelton
I'd love to see him come on the pitch at half time against West Ham and get a proper send off.
Bs4Red
Some agent AW must have if this move goes through. Looked a shade of the player from previous years this season. Would be a great move for all involved I feel.
Ska Junkie
If this is true, good luck to Andi and thanks for the memories over the last 5 years. I will never forget his goals at Bramall lane, we got absolutely battered and somehow still won, sheer quality. Great player and a lovely man.

JP Hampton
A bit surprised it’s happening already. Hoping it’s a good move for Andi, have always been big fans, and he did score us some wonderful goals in his magical season. Thanks Andi. The season we did this out of necessity he scored over 20. His movement in and around the box was excellent that season. He has also stated his preference is to play as a striker. Agree. It was his finishing which was always a pleasure to watch. Totally cool and calm and you just knew it was going in the net.

His career stats suggest he has never been a 20 goal per season striker. However that's not a criticism, he has done a great job for us and the time was right for him to move on........as others have said it would have been churlish of us to be awkward and stand in his way for the remainder of his contract, add to that the fact we have negotiated a better deal for TGH assuming we wish to sign him and it was a great move for all parties.
luke_bristol
Sad to see him go. Don’t feel our small squad can afford another “one for the future”, we need someone who can go into the starting line-up immediately.

Dr Balls
The other thought is that Andi was very close to Nige (remember the post when Nige left) and perhaps this is too good an opportunity for him to now turn down now it’s a new Head Coach. I’m sure Andi still harbours ambitions to play in the Euros in the summer, but he needs game time, and if West Brom (a lot closer to home) can offer him that, then he will be up for it.
spudski
I concur with all the positive sentiments towards Andi, a true professional on and off the pitch. What a great servant to the Club. However for me, to his career detriment and ours, he's a jack of all trades. He literally is Mr versatile. Which imo has been great when needing cover...but how many positions has he played, how many positions has he made his own? It's very much a catch 22. To be that versatile at this level is outstanding...but...imo he would have had a more outstanding career if he had all his physical and mental attributes, but made one position his own. Imo...he's best centrally as a striker. We've used him numerous times all over the park whilst he's been here. I don't think it's been a good thing. Always in the back of the head...' it's ok Andi can cover that spot, it's not essential to recruit there'. I said from day one that I couldn't see Weimann in a Manning team. Personally I wish the best for Andi, but for me it's a good thing he's leaving, it will make us more focused instead of make do and mend.
redkev
Great servant who always gave his best but tbf squad player only now , we need to move forward and that calls for players to move on ( as long as we recruit correctly )
Loosey Boy
Great move for him personally and professionally. What a great signing he turned out to be - only £2m Someone who always worked tirelessly, gave his all and scored goals, especially the season when he got 22. Many a good memory of him in a City shirt but the game for me was, away at Sheff Utd - being in the away end that day, was simply brilliant If he does go…Good Luck, Andy

Another fan who I know doesn’t come on here described him as the “Moeen Ali” of Bristol City I.e. a player who had a specialist position but was happy to fill in anywhere and could make a decent fist of it, even if it wasn’t in his best personal interest to do so, so coaches did play him out of position, because he was still better than the alternatives. Unsurprisingly Andi’s best season for us was centrally behind Martin and Semenyo, playing in his best position and scoring 20 goals! Redrascal2
Looking relentlessly on the forum for a new signing and find we are possibly losing Andi Weimann. The squad is now even shorter of numbers than before. Only at City. But as far as Weimann what a great servant he has been for City. Played so many times out of his desired position but no moans or sulks just gave 100 per cent every time. Truly a model professional and seems a really great bloke. And scored some wonderful goals for us. All the best Andi and thanks for all you gave to City
