So the Mrs has finally got some dates for The Bank for a Sunday roast, after all the hype and all this time , is it worth it ?

We will find out in April , anyone had one of their Roasts before ?

We managed to get one in for this coming Sunday!

Not a Restaurant as such, but the food is as good as I have anywhere.
I think the family are from Nepal, so Gurkha chicken and curries . The food is amazing for a local pub, big screen TV for football and the best service I've had anywhere.  I highly recommend the Fishponds Tap if you're in the area. Just by the Morrisons.

Presuming it's been mentioned before, but the rude Jamaican lady in St Nicks has someone of the best Caribbean food I've ever tasted. ackee saltfish and jerk wraps like you've never tasted before.

St. Nicks is street food heaven. The Spanish place is just awesome.

Had an advert pop up on Instagram for Racks sharing platter roast.
Looks incredible.
Has anyone on here been?

I went there once years ago, pre covid, and it was really really nice food. Just a bit off the beaten track. Great environment in there too.

Used to go to Racks loads in the late 90s early noughties, can’t ever remember food being involved though. I guess most places have food offerings now.

I there’s one thing that would get me moving back to Bristol it’d be this thread. Bristol looks like foodie heaven now.

Urban tandoor getting quite the publicity on radio x currently for there tik toks

still not been

Went for the first time in years on a Sat eve back in December. Place was absolutely rammed.

Must admit I was a bit worse for wear after being at the Bears game during the day, but everything was on point, and all the friends we were with on their first visit were really impressed.

Chilli monkfish starter was my highlight. Hopefully return soon when I haven't been on a massive session.

I must be the only person who thinks Urban Tandoor is just 'okay'.

Must have been there half a dozen times and whilst there is nothing wrong with the food at all, I just can't understand the hype.

Which one did you go to? The smaller one, opposite the court in Bristol is better.

I think it's definitely better than "ok".

But I don't think it's exceptional.

Nutmeg and Rassasy both better imo.

I have been there a few times and agree it is better than OK.

I think a lot depends, however, on what dishes you order.

I found that the 'traditional' standard dishes, Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala and the like, (ordered by my wife and daughters) were nothing special, but the more specialised dishes were pretty impressive.

Unfortunately, I have never tried the chilli monkfish dish, but have read from several posters on here that it is very nice.

When I go back anywhere I try and have something different , Urban Tandor is the exception .

OK, I understand, there is no need to rub it in 😉.

Unfortunately, my wife doesn’t really like monkfish, Poor Man’s Lobster, so we rarely eat it at home, although I do often make myself a tasty lunch of monkfish cheeks with chorizo.

I shall make sure to try the chilli monkfish dish next time I am across, probably next month or March.

I know it's all personal taste, but I think 3 out of 4 of us had it first time, then all 4 then next time.

It is lush IMO

I love Monkfish...but it doesn't love me. I'm allergic to it 🤕 weirdest experience twice...sweats cold and hot, a feeling like every orrifice is going to explode, but doesn't...and the weirdest...tunnel vision 🤷🙈🤣

Had it happen in a French restaurant and a fish restaurant 🤷

I'm also allergic to pigeon 🤷

Nothing else...weird.

I can highly recommend the Urban Tandoor Saffron Lamb Shank.

Food reactions are weird, luckily I've never had one but the Wife did. We were in Woolacombe and we had shell fish, something she loves and has had loads of times. By the morning she came out in red wheals , she was really not well.
Not had a problem since ,  but that was the only thing we didn't share.
